Just came across below article (undated) which reports that Larry Allen has decided to retire. I know some weeks ago there was talk he was deciding whether to retire or not, but I guess the decision is made.

Presume Jerry will at some point call him to ask him to come to Dallas & retire as a Cowboy; on the other hand, maybe Jerry will hold off until sometime in 09 when Allen can be inducted into the Cowboys ROH. Hopefully Larry will be inducted into the HOF on his first try.

NFL Networks Adam Schefter is reporting that San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Larry Allen is set to retire. According to the report, Allen is making the decision to retire rather than the having the 49ers make the decision for him. With San Francisco wrapping up a disappointing 5-and-11 season, the 14-year veteran was reportedly not interested in coming back to a team not viewed as being on the verge of winning a championship.
The 36-year old Allen began his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 1994 as a second round draft pick out of Sonoma State. He was the lead blocker for Emmit Smith while also helping to protect quarterback Troy Aikman as Dallas went on to dominate the NFL in the 1990’s. If Allen does decide to retire, he would be eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2013– an induction class that could also include his teammate with the 49ers this season, defensive lineman Bryant Young along with former Oakland Raiders tackle Warren Sapp.

I have missed him. I expect his enshrinement in 5 years and it will be a short speech.

If we aren't going to trade Greg Ellis for Jason Taylor, can we trade him for Larry Allen?

How many first ballot HOF OG's are there? He's a real rarity. Here's to you LA.

Shortest speech in the history of the Hall of Fame, guaranteed.

Sucks that he didn't finish his career as a Cowboy.

I hated seeing him as a 49er as much as I hated seeing Emmitt as a *gulp* Cardinal.

One of the Greatest Lineman in NFL history!, Larry was a Monster.

At 36, this end is coming too soon. He had the talent to play a few more years if he kept himself in better shape during the summer.

I'd love to see him in the World's Strongest Man competitions now that he is retiring from football. 36 is not old for those guys.

Can someone make a Larry Allen tribute video? I remember reading articles about players bringing popcorn to the post-game tape viewing just to watch LA's pancake blocks.

yeah he could those Estonians, Finns and Ukranians butts,

I remember when he just killed some Cardinal DB on a blitz, it was hilarious.

Best though, was grabbing Cortez' mask after the missed PAT.
