In this case even more. 59M cap hit. Awful dead money option. No trade clause. No real other options for a 12-5 team who is supposedly all in. Jerry's Comme ts about Lance rings so hollow
That’s what I’m saying though. If we sucked he’d be cut. Jerry’s lack of leverage has more to do with Dak playing well and the Cowboys being good.

Comparing him to Elway is hilarious!
He simply pointed out that Elway didn’t win a Super Bowl until the last two years of his career. He lost his first free Super Bowl because he didn’t have a good team around him. Some were saying he was a choker. He was having to carry his offense because they had no running game. Elway wasn’t nearly as good as QB when he won his two Super Bowls but he had a real good team around him that took a lot of pressure off of him especially with Terrell Davis in the backfield. Elway was only mentioned because Dak is putting up Hall of Fame numbers. In another couple of seasons, he’ll have just about every Cowboys passing record. Those of you who keep acting like Dak is trash are hilarious.

You’re viewing this unrealistically. Realistically Jerry doesn’t care what Dak has done in the playoffs. It’s about what type of player he is. And he’s coming off an all pro. Plus the Cowboys have shown they aren’t the best evaluators of talent at the QB position. Dak doesn’t need the Cowboys. If they cut him today he’d have suitors.
Dak would be better off leaving here. It's too much pressure. And you're right that Jerry doesn't know anything about evaluating QBs. That's why I'm not that high on Lance. Plus stilll remember him trying to make Quincy and Drew Henson franchise players. lol

He has no leverage unless Jerry gives him some. He's choked in the last 2 playoff games. Any QB can do that. We can get an average QB to beat the scrubs of this league like we've been doing.
Not any QB can choke in the playoffs because an average QB is not going to even get this team into the playoffs.

Nobody wants to admit this because Dak has been terrible in the postseason, but as far as the regular season is concerned, he's been one of the best QB's in the NFL. This is the leverage Dak has. The Cowboys need him more than he needs the Cowboys.

As much as we can wish it, moving on from Dak is not like waving a magic wand and suddenly the Super Bowls start rolling in. This is still the same front office from 1996-2015 before Dak even got here.

At least Elway got to several SB's, Dak has not even come close to getting to the dance. But, I say, pay the man, he deserves all the money and time he needs to get just one SB. That's the ticket.

He's been one of the best because the NFC has sucked the last few years especially with QBs. Put him in the AFC and see how he does. Let him actually play contenders and not mediocre teams. Fix our defense so we can stop the run and get an average QB and we can at least contend in the NFC. Do I think we'll win the SB? No. But we wont do worse. It isn't even that hard to make the playoffs anymore. That's why winning 12 games against the teams we beat doesn't even impress me that much. And what does it matter if we don't do anything with it. We had everything fall into our lap last year and the team didn't even show up. Keeping everything the same and hoping we'll do better is just a waste of time. The same way we wasted 10 years with Garrett. Better to do it now then to wait but of course that's not how the Cowboys operate.

Not that interesting. And he hasn't only 'not won a SB', he hasn't advanced to a conference championship game. Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, all drafted the same year or after Dak and have all gotten that far. 5 playoff visits, 2 different team builds, 7 playoff games, still ****ing the bed. How many at bats are we going to give this guy to test out the "winning cures all" theory before we come to the realization he's just not the guy?
Exactly
Completely moronic take

Dak has all the leverage because who can the Cowboys get that’s better than him? You have fans wanting to trade a premium draft pick for Justin Fields. He’s coming off three straight losing seasons and has never passed for 2600 yards and has never thrown for more than 17 TDs plus he has 30 fumbles over his 3 year career. The Bears are looking to move on from him because they know he’s not the answer. Someone posted that Russell Wilson would be just what the doctor ordered for the Cowboys. lol What doctor was he talking about Jack Kevorkian? Go tell Denver fans Russell Wilson would be just what the doctor ordered. Look at the crap shape they’re in since making that trade. You could tell Wilson was just about done in Seattle, which is why they got rid of him. He’s just another QB coming off 3 straight losing seasons, that some fans would rather have instead of Dak. There’s fans here that act like they would rather have a top 10 pick every year than make the playoffs. I get that some of you hate Dak, but no need to make it so obvious.
