I was just looking at the Draft Value Chart for fun. The #18 is worth 900 points. I was looking to see who, if anyone, had a pair of 2nd rounders nearly equal to that. The Bengals have the 37th (from Oakland) worth 530 and the 53rd worth 370. Well, 530 + 370 = 900. I just found that interesting.

And we know Cowboys are staying in the 1st rnd with all their needs on OL and even on defense.

With one early 2nd and two mid 2nds, they could draft a whole O-line if they wanted.

And miss out on a top safety or DL prospect at 18 if all the OL are gone? Don't think Cowboys want that.

Jerry indicated almost the opposite in the presser today, not that that means much at this point. He said point-blank that this is a draft where you could drop down 20 spots and still hope to get as good or better a player as a fit for your team.

Sure whatever. Like he is gonna let a presser there know what cards he iis holding for draft day. Get real.

If he moves down to the 2nd round, then everyone is gonna bring up the 2009 draft that was a total bust with all the picks they had in that draft.

I did explicitly say 'not that that means much at this point'. Just pointing out that you're taking a position that's counter to what the team said today.

And I don't think anybody gives a rip about imaginary parallels the 2009 draft here in 2013. What matters in the event of a tradedown is whether or not the trade helped the team, and that depends on the compensation and on the eventual pick(s).

Wait until after the draft and start looking back at what Jerry has said.

Somewhere in there he will have told you what they basically plan to do.

The problem before the draft is sifting through all of the um's uh's and double talk to figure out what part of what he is saying is the tip off.

Still, that wouldn't be good value for the Cowboys and I wouldn't accept that trade.

I think there is a good chance of trading down in round 1......but not all the way out.

I could see trading back 3-7 spots, but I'm not a fan of completely trading out of round 1.

I'd be ecstatic to pick up a second in this draft by any value-conscious means necessary.

Agreed. Jerry is not as smart as people give him credit sometimes. He isn't always trying to fool people with what he says (Like he should). If he said we can go back 20 spots and still get an as good or better player, he really does believe that... and it is possible he is right too if Cooper, Warmack, Richardson, and Vacarro are gone.

Agreed. Those should be the three guys we target, after that, it's all pretty similar

That's my thought process too. If one of them are there and we trade down I would flip my lid

We had a thread with a list of a few Fair Value trades and this was one of them.

Depending on how things fall, you never know. The strength of this draft is in that 2-4 th round range.
That is the opposite of 2009--before anyone starts trying to compare.

I'm not advocating a big trade down, but there's a real chance you could get basically the same player in the second as you could get in, say, the late 1st.
