But how effective is that? I don’t think Lawrence, Bennett, or Quinn rushed any less hard due to Hernandez’s actions.Not if he's doing it right. It's not what you do, it's what you get caught doing. Every OL and DL pushes the envelope and hopes they don't get caught. The coaches teach techniques to get the edge and not get caught.
With Hernandez it started when he thought his QB got a little rough treatment so he decided to hand out a little of his own for his rookie QB and send a message to his teammates. Did you see him smiling and the look on his face. He knew exactly what he was doing, he was trying to get some fire in his teammates. He was risking catching penalties but he knew they didn't have much chance anyway. I got loads of respect for any player on a bad team that refuses to go down without a fight.
I can tell you one player that would have loved to have Hernandez on his team when he was a rookie, Troy Aikman. His 5 matadors allowed them to beat the hell out of him, even body slam him and they did nothing.
