Umm.. You are aware of what Moon accomplished right?

If you combine his CFL and NFL numbers...

  • 5,357 completions
  • 70,553 yards
  • 435 touchdowns
  • 9 NFL Pro bowls
  • 5 Grey Cup wins (CFL's Superbowl)

You cannot put Bledsoe and Moon in the same category unless that category is NFL QBs. He is the most prolific QB in history.

I don't put much stock in CFL numbers, 20 yard end zones are much easier to throw TD passes than the 10 yard end zones of the NFL not to mention the talent level is just so much greater in the NFL. No doubt Moon showed himself as a quality QB in the NFL but as for what he did in the CFL it is meaningless; you may as well count high school stats.

Afternoon ABQ.

I was never a big Jim Kelly fan either but 4 SB's in a row is amazing. Plus he had a career passer rating 7 points higher than Bledsoe-- that's not a narrow margin but a very dominant number.

Think of this, Drew Bledsoe did not, as a team's primary QB, ever lead a team to the playoffs over the last 9 years of his career.

I speculated before the past season that Bledsoe would have to have to very good years and take Dallas deep in the playoffs to make it to the Hall. I thought if he did that and got a super bowl ring, he would be a lock. With the way things went, yes based on the sheer size of his numbers he should get consideration, but I would say no, he's not a hall of famer.

Tony Romo on the other hand... :)

well I will say this, calling bledsoe good not great and then immediately saying warren moon is better is comical to me.

I love how overated warren moon is. He was a good qb but to me he was the same as bledsoe and testaverde, in fact moons numbers are pretty identical.

Jim Kelly was in the HOF class of 2002.

http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=112

Drew Bledsoe has large career totals, but he was only average as far as efficiency.

Drew played from 1993-2006.

Completion percentage
57.2% Bledsoe
58.4% NFL average

Yards per pass attempt
6.6 Bledsoe
6.8 NFL avg.

Yards per pass completion
11.6 Bledsoe
11.6 NFL avg.

Percentage of pass attempts that were TDs
3.7% Bledsoe
4.0% NFL avg.

Percentage of pass attempts that were INTs
3.1% Bledsoe
3.2% NFL avg.

QB rating
77.1 Bledsoe
78.8 NFL avg.

He was not horrible in any category. He was just average. That is not HOF material and you have to consider that he played worse in the playoffs compiling a 54.9 QB rating. Warren Moon's QB rating went up in the playoffs. He had a 80.9 rating in the regular season and a 84.5 rating in the playoffs.

I stand corrected on the Moon thing. I was coming from the standpoint that they both compiled huge numbers and never won a championship.

You're right, Jim Kelly would be a better comparison.

But you know, now that I really think about it, Bledsoe reminds me of Danny White a lot. Great career, a couple bad breaks, huge numbers, no championship.

I may be nic picking here, but didn't Kelly win a championship with the Gamblers ?

I think Moon was good but I also think the run and shoot helped inflate his numbers. In Houston many fans considered Warren a choker because Houston always found ways to lose in the playoffs. Towards the end Houston fans were constantly booing him. Myself I do like Moon and glad he made it to the Hall but I'm not sure if he was any more deserving of the honor than many players who have been rejected

Houston Gamblers Led by Kelly and employing the run-and-shoot offense, the Gamblers appeared in the playoffs in each of their two seasons, but suffered first-round defeats both times

And like I said previously Bledsoe never led a team to the playoffs the last 9 years of his careers. That's inept.

You don't have to convince me. You know that I was never a believer in Bledsoe. Stand up guy but I just saw enough in Buffalo to ever believe he would be the guy for us.

The same could be said of the Bledsoe run offenses from '93 to '97. I mean when you set a league record for attempts in a season then your numbers are getting inflated.

He did have success but that was also the start of the run and shoot and it seemed every QB put up big numbers in that system be it college or pros. That is until DC figured out ways of shutting it down.

True however he did not have 5 WR in routs he was still playing pretty much a base pro offense. As for Drew making the HOF I have said I don't think that will happen. As for his stint in Dallas he came here to be a stop gap until Dallas could find or develop a QB and in my opinion that is what happened.

sounds like your average to me.

in truth, i just don't care. he punished us while here but that's me being "personal" about it cause i never wanted him here, but he did what he could.

even if he does go into the HOF it damn sure won't be as a cowboy, so i really don't care if he goes or not.
