Reach or not, he will be a huge improvement on the interior OL and will be a likely starter from day 1 for the next 10 years.

That is what you want to do with your first pick.

Yeah, IMO he has the potential to be better than Gurode was in his prime. He's just such a quick thinker and is so big and strong.

Definitely will help all 3 interior line positions.

I think he compares well with Gurode, but should end up being the better player.

Both have size and power at the point of attack generating from their lower bodies and arms/shoulders. (Frederick seems to have a more aggressive style, though.)

Neither has great lateral movement and both can be thrown off balance with quick moves against their momentum, part of that aggression working against Frederick at times.

The main reason I think Frederick will be better is football IQ. He seems to recognize and recover well to what the defense is doing (stunts, etc.) and understand positioning even when he goes downfield to block, which is one of the keys to blocking downfield. If a big man gets himself out of position, there's just no way he's going to be able to outquick linebackers and safeties to get into position.

That's also where I think Frederick is underestimated. People look at his 40 and lateral quickness and deem him slow. But blocking downfield isn't all about speed, it's about understanding where you need to be to cut off the defender, forcing him to go through you or allow the RB to get farther downfield.

Love that he is an Electrical Engineer, Graduated early and is smart as a whip. Big as an ox, and mean. Would still have loved to pick up Floyd to play the one tech. but cannot complain about how it all ended up. I think this is actualy one of our better drafts in a long while, sneaky good. And Frederick will become my "pet cat" on the team this year.

I did not know he was an EE. I too graduated with a degree in it. I also have a Masters in CE. This makes me root for him even more.

Bad in that we can ill afford DL injuries this year. He and Rat will definitely have some battles.

He coould be drafted by any team...I am simply weary of his true potential impact on the NFL level.

On ES, I see the same happy fans and debbie downers that I do here...same shhhh different location.

Reach is my opinion, certainly not a fact based on NFL production. I think there are plenty of guys that would have helped the (potentially) Cowboys more.

Way better then Gurode already IMO. Remember what Parcells said, he was stupid. This guy is a smart dude. I always thought that what seperated Gurode from being great was that he wasn't very bright. Remember Kosier called the protections.
