17 years of incompetence and counting. He deserves the blame.

Thats not the point. The point was does he get credit for the Frederick pick if he turns out to be the best lineman from this draft.

I think he does, and he gets credit for the Terrance Williams pick in the same sentence.

The more I watch of Frederick, the more I absolutely love this pick. The guy is a monster.

I think I'd take either Frederick or Williams over Floyd. But we got them both. An absolute coup.

PS, to those saying he can't move in space, you need to watch this video. He's making all sorts of blocks in the second level and at 4:11 he pulls and blocks two defenders.

And wasn't it before the draft EVERYONE wanted us to fix the O-line, even saw some posts where we needed someone nasty to bring some fire back. Seeing reports of how Frederick broke some bones in practice WITH HIS OWN guys sounds pretty nasty! Plus, he is a center, so Costa can be moved (either G or off the team). You'd think people would be happy about that, especially with how the O line went off so early in the draft.

But now all this talk about how they messed up and should have gotten Floyd. We do this, then people complain that we didn't address the O line (and would DEFINITELY need some stop-gaps brought in via FA).

Seems to me the draft was pretty solid.

He was DOMINANT in the first half. Not as good in the 2nd, but still decent.

He's a bit too slow on his outside pulls (RB kept having to slow down so Fred could get out in front), but he was at 330+ in those videos. I think around 315 would be a good playing weight for him.

hard to continue dominance when the defense knows you are running the same play again

He does a few things very well. I really wish there was some college tape on him playing at a lower weight. He is kinda an enigma in those regards, good combine ability #s but doesn't match up with his college tape at a heavier weight. How about that awareness to make the tackle on that goal line fumble. That play could easily have gone for 6 the other way.

So you gonna answer the question?

Yes, Jerry gets the credit. Big deal though. It's not about winning the draft. IT's about winning games in January and February in the post season.

That is hard to argue. The problem with the draft though is that is was deep enough to fix most of our needs all over the board.

Don't tell me that you shouldn't draft for need if you're going to drop 13 spots and get screwed on a trade just to reach for a need player then turn around and go in a different direction through the rest of the draft.

Around the 7:03 mark did anyone notice how Frederick tackled the Ohio St defender that recovered Ball's goal line fumble? He brought him down and prevented him running back for a TD. Great awareness to turn around and then grab the defender and the strength to bring him down with basically one hand.

Found a nice YouTube of the wisconsin vs Ohio state game with all of Balls' runs in the game. It's very interesting to see how many times he follows behind Frederick

This will be a matchup we will see for the next several years and I like Fredericks chances to keep winning this battle http://youtu.be/vk7aLzbwBb8

I have seen a lot of tape and seen a lot of live action of Wisconsin football and I think Dallas has a keeper in Frederick. As for the claim he was a reach at 31? maybe so but right now if he can help give Romo more time and open holes for Murray and Randle as he did for Ball then I could care less about if people feel he was a reach or not.

If they are right. Does Jerry get the credit? He certainly always gets the blame.

:laugh2:
wait.... i thought all these draft decisions are "Team decisions" so "everyone" makes the decision

jerry is "just the tie-breaker"

isnt that what homers constantly say when telling us its not jerry's fault

now, that it might be a positive, suddently it is "jerry's decision" so he should get the credit?

make up your mind guys

Complainers will complain no matter what the Cowboys did on draft day, simple fact around here. Are there things in the draft I would have liked to have seen different? sure, but then who knew that 6 of the top 11 picks would be OL including 2 Guards in the top 10 something our board experts claimed would not happen then having Giants and Bears reaching for Pugh and Long respectively.

Which I found funny how those critics around here seemed to praise NY for getting Pugh who was just as much of a reach as Frederick whom they were up in arms over on draft day.

Simple truth is those who complain around here will do so no matter what the Cowboys do because that is how they get their attention.

The only thing I didn't like about that video is that the guy seems to end up on the ground a bit. Pro DTs will take advantage of that big time especially on a push/pull move.

It's not something that he can't be coached up on, but you can tell that sometimes he let's his aggressiveness get the best of him. Maybe he's over extending or something, but it's certainly something a vet DT will pinpoint exploit if he can. It seem like sometimes a DL can simply pull an "ole" move once in a while and sneak right past him to make a play.

Other than that you can tell the kid has some serious power. I think the issue will be keeping it under control. He does that and we won't be searching for a center for a good 6-8 years.

Yes, Frederick looks better on pulls to the outside than Warmack.

Also, Frederick was playing at around 338 lbs and Warmack played at 322. Frederick should be quicker at 320 than he was in the video; whereas, Warmack is probably going to play near his college playing weight.

I've noticed that before; however, the man that he is blocking usually ends up on the ground also.

I've watched Wisconsin a lot over the years and while I agree, he can get push up the middle, he is not good is space. Terrible in fact. Even watching this clip against Ohio State, he's not great pulling. He has his strengths but I can't agree that pulling and blocking in space is one of them.

More of a reach than Fredrick since they picked him at 19 AND didn't get an extra pick that COULD end up in a solid, consistent playmaker for years to come.

I honestly don't understand the hate for the pick considering the how well the draft was stocked with "talent". I love the pick considering the kid is damn near a genius so yeah gimme him after Woicik and Callahan get their hands on him anchoring the middle of the line or maybe even becoming a guard(depending on how things go from now until pre-season). I think his potential is higher than Pugh and Long but that is this guy's opinion(Oh yeah and i'm not a scout and don't pretend to be one either, just observant)

Same. I particularly love the push he gets in the run game.
