Which I found funny how those critics around here seemed to praise NY for getting Pugh who was just as much of a reach as Frederick whom they were up in arms over on draft day.

More of a reach than Fredrick since they picked him at 19 AND didn't get an extra pick that COULD end up in a solid, consistent playmaker for years to come.

I honestly don't understand the hate for the pick considering the how well the draft was stocked with "talent". I love the pick considering the kid is damn near a genius so yeah gimme him after Woicik and Callahan get their hands on him anchoring the middle of the line or maybe even becoming a guard(depending on how things go from now until pre-season). I think his potential is higher than Pugh and Long but that is this guy's opinion(Oh yeah and i'm not a scout and don't pretend to be one either, just observant)

Good point, NY got Pugh and Dallas got Frederick and an extra pick. Again I agree Frederick was a bit of a reach but then I saw a lot of players going before most of the so called experts felt they would.

In the end what matters is how the players we selected perform. If Frederick and come in and give us stability at Center or Guard then the selection in my view is worth it. Add to that Williams being selected adding to the weapons on the outside and hopefully a long future with the Cowboys.

Same. I particularly love the push he gets in the run game.

Agreed, Ball seemed to be hitting the center of the line on most of the big runs. If you go to some game tapes of 2011 you see excellent play out of Frederick at Guard

Yes, Jerry gets the credit. Big deal though. It's not about winning the draft. IT's about winning games in January and February in the post season.

By that logic then the drafting should matter if it turns out bad and we should never hear about the 2008 and 2009 drafts because 'it's not about winning the draft.'

If we picked Lloyd, we would just hear 'we never spend 1st rounders on the O-Line.'

Can't win for losing.

wait.... i thought all these draft decisions are "Team decisions" so "everyone" makes the decision

jerry is "just the tie-breaker"

isnt that what homers constantly say when telling us its not jerry's fault

now, that it might be a positive, suddently it is "jerry's decision" so he should get the credit?

make up your mind guys

No, we will maintain that it was a group decision. You on the other hand will have to say Jerry made a great pick.

hard to continue dominance when the defense knows you are running the same play again

I wasn't criticizing.

Wisconsin tried to change it up in the 2nd half actually, by running some outside plays. Fred struggled with those type of plays. Ball kept having to slow down for Fred to get out to his blocks.

Like I said, I think at 315 he'll be better able to get out in front of the RB on outside running plays.

The edges also weren't getting push. The TE or tackle were getting pushed 3 yds into the backfield and he had to go around them. Wagner seems a bit of a spare.

That being siad, I agree with you he needs to lose weight and work on his conditioning. He does slow down as games go on. The Purdue game was much more severe.

That being said he was asked to be on point on runplays a dozen times or more in the first half. They rode him and they rode him hard.

I was saying anything about you--but was critical of Wisconsin's lack of imagination on offense. Fred did great considering the Badgers are so predictable.

No doubt they come in with everyone knowing they are going to run the ball down your throat and then do it. Say a lot about the OL they put together in Wis.

If they are right. Does Jerry get the credit? He certainly always gets the blame.

Jason's pick. The Cowboys are just lucky they didn't lose him when Jerry decided to get cute and trade down.

Yes, Frederick looks better on pulls to the outside than Warmack.

Also, Frederick was playing at around 338 lbs and Warmack played at 322. Frederick should be quicker at 320 than he was in the video; whereas, Warmack is probably going to play near his college playing weight.

I do think that's about the weight Frederick will end up.

I've watched Wisconsin a lot over the years and while I agree, he can get push up the middle, he is not good is space. Terrible in fact. Even watching this clip against Ohio State, he's not great pulling. He has his strengths but I can't agree that pulling and blocking in space is one of them.

I don't think pulling is a strength, but I think he's good in space when he's going forward. From all the videos I've seen, he does a nice job of finding someone to block and getting them out of the way when he's heading upfield. It's his lateral movement skills that are shaky.

If we're smart, we won't try to pull him around end much, but let him fire out from the line and go get someone on the second level.
