Who ever can run backwards the fastest and cover the middle of the field.

Vilma or Urlacher. Both are true leaders. You have to be that to play Mike. This team needs a vocal leader on defense.

I know this is hypothetical and I really did try to make a choice but those are all terrible options. Spikes and Urlacher haven't played since 2012, Vilma played what 1 game last year, and Carter/other scrub could give the same production as Pat Angerer. For the sake of the thread I guess you go Angerer since he's the only one thats been even marginally productive but he's still a JAG

I have a difficult time believing you know anything about Angerer. Ability isn't his problem, like Lee staying healthy is his problem.

The lack of faith in Holloman here is concerning...

I think the kid has potential but if you go back and look at his games... he wasn't very good.

Now he was a rookie and he was playing behind a crap DL, but still he wasn't very good himself.

Does that mean he won't be good this year? No.

But I would hold off on the anointing oil.

Gosh who said that? :D

Really?

Urlacher didn't play last season and Vilma had 12 snaps.

Not to mention Urlacher was horrible in 2012 (there's a good reason the Bears, nor anyone else wanted to sign the guy) and Vilma hasn't had a good season since... like 2006.

I'd take Hitchens in heartbeat over either one at this point.

I would take Vilma out of that group.

As long as you take him and the Cowboys don't.

Here are his PFF ratings since 2007...

2007 -16.5
2008 -3.0
2009 -5.2
2010 -25.5 (yeah you read that right)
2011 -24.4
2012 -6.3 as a part-timer
2013 -1.4 in 12 snaps

Folks need to stop looking a names and thinking the "names" are better than what the Cowboys currently have.

Vilma is the MLB version of Ernie Sims.

I think it gets solved from the inside....between Hitchins, Holloman, Durant or Carter. I send Uhrlacher a message to see if he has any interest and see what kind of shape he is in. As some of posted, the year off might have been good for him and he did at least seem like he had some interest in still playing.

Angerer is Sean Lee part 2 with Anthony Spencer's bad knee. Everyone is convinced that Spencer won't be able to come back, but apparently some think it will be easy for Angerer. Spencer had his surgery in October....Angerer's wasn't until December. Why the optimism for him and the pessimism for Spencer? Angerer isn't a JAG when healthy....but he isn't Sean Lee either. People are fooling themselves thinking he is.

I still think James Anderson makes a ton of sense....free agent, won't break the bank and probably can play any LB position in a 4-3.

Agree on Angerer... he hasn't been terrible, but he hasn't been even an acceptable starting MLB either.

Anderson was horrible last year. Worse than Angerer.

I said this in another post but I think London Fletcher would be a good fit if he could be convinced to come out of retirement. I am not sure if Urlacher is interested or not. He might be but I saw him not all that long ago. He was here in NM for a UNM Dinner and then also at a UNM Game where the retired his number. He was with his family and I couldn't help but notice how happy he looked with his girls. He's also got a lot going on with his one business and he has a contract with Fox. I'm not sure he would come back. IDK.

I was kind of thinking Fletcher had no interest in the Cowboys and took some potshots at Romo and the Boys last year.

Why couldn't Vilma be cut if the current talent proves he is not needed?

Why even waste the snaps bringing him in?

You've got several young guys... Outside of Durant, who need snaps in this defense.

What's Vilma going to do? Sell smokes in the lobby?

Better MLB prospects will be available later on in the summer.

That line made me actually chuckle out loud:D

Agree that better options will be available later in the summer via cuts, etc.
