That whole linebacking crew from Ohio State was pretty overrated. Great playing together, but awful individually. Best part of Hard Knocks was Colombo threatening to stick his elbow right under his chin.

AJ Hawk has never been worth his pick or contract. That group was a case where they collectively were top of the line but none were all that individually. Now if you could have kept them together somehow they might have been really good. But clearly not possible.

Can you elaborate on that story?

love how some here ignore the truth for their agenda

I'm not sure if this is a case of him ignoring the truth or just a case of being ill-informed. Either way, Carpenter is definitely not the answer in my opinion.

I was kind of thinking Fletcher had no interest in the Cowboys and took some potshots at Romo and the Boys last year.

I don't know if he does or if he doesn't and I would not be surprised if he did say some of those things but if he were here, I'm sure that those kinds of comments would be directed at RG and the Commanders as opposed to Romo. Money talks.

It was the same practice session they showed on Hard Knocks where Colombo was calling him Barbie Carpenter and basically told him if he tried "that again" (some sort of overly physical move in a walk through) that he would stick his elbow right under his chin. Sounded sincerely hostile as well. I absolutely loved it.

The only FA linebacker that I think is worth bringing in is Henderson and he has some off the field baggage.

If he was made the running-down-only MLB, that plan would have a fighting chance at success.

Broaddus is suggesting a possible trade. Could just be nothing but it does make you wonder for whom.

Oakland has Roach who knows the system. He will be competing with Khalil Mack, Sio Moore, Kevin Burnett and Miles Burris in a crowded unit.

Tennessee might move on from Colin McCarthey who may not fit Horton's scheme. He is active but gets nicked a lot as well. Zach Brown was someone they were shopping during the draft but couldn't move.

Miami is moving Koa Misi to MLB, so that might make Dannell Ellerbee and his salary expendable.

Green Bay drafted Carl Bradford to push Brad Jones.

Chicago was disappointed in Jon Bostic and Christian Jones may take his job.

New Orleans might want to move on from Curtis Lofton because he earns too much money and will be challenged by Khairi Fortt, but I am not a fan.

One player I would love to get is K.J. Wright from Seattle. He is due to be a free agent in 2015 and the Seahawks took Pierre-Louis in effect to possibly replace him. If the rookie picks things up quickly they might want to get something out of him rather than just let him leave.

May be nothing to what Broaddus threw out there, but who knows.

The DUI thing might be a deal breaker. The Vikings are in horrible shape at MLB and don't want him, so that should tell you his issues are significant.

I admit, ever since this happened I've been worried we panic and make an OJ Santiago type trade for a vet MLB who doesn't make a real difference and just costs us draft picks that we dearly need.

I honestly don't follow college football closely at all, but was he really good enough to be picked that highly (I can't remember the consensus at the time)? Like was he one of those guys that seemed like a "sure thing" according to most draft gurus?

He was considered one of the safest picks in the draft that year. Everyone said that it was unlikely he would ever be an All-Pro but he was almost certain to give a team solid production for 10 years.

Just curious what Barbie would have done to irritate Columbo. I didn't watch Hard Knocks.

I don't think it will be panicking to trade for a vet MLB. They currently do not have a single true MLB on the team that is healthy and capable of doing the job. All they have is a 4th rounder they are converting to MLB and Orie Lemon. They need another body at the position that has played in NFL games. If they have to give up a 5th or 6th to get one, that's what they need to do. Personally, I think one will become available later when teams make cuts and they will certainly be cheaper to trade for if a team is getting ready to release the player. The problem is that they will not have the time in the system to get ready if you wait until then.

Right, I'm talking about vastly overpaying for a meh player.

This team has nothing in value (in terms of players they can afford to trade) and we've seen what happens when they try to trade draft picks. Need to sink or swim with what we have and live with it.

Holloman played MLB in games last season.
