I haven't re-watched the game yet, but that's what I felt happened viewing it live.

Jermey Parnell has the tools.

Parnell just hasn't played enough yet to know if he is what he is or if he will continue to improve with real game reps.

I believe it's the latter.

There is no substitute for actually playing the game.

I'll also give some credit to the Eagles, their focus was defending the run and not letting DeMarco Murray have another big game.

Eagles front 7 is very good. But parnell has plenty of games under his belt. We should have a pretty good idea of what we have in him. That's a backup swing tackle. It was evident why free is the starter. We will see if I'm wrong but that's what I think he is. He is bigger than free but parnell got pushed back in the run game.

I agree, and I don't get why posters can't take that opinion without turning that into an argument that either Free or Parnell suck. Free is the better player right now, but Parnell may be a better player in the future and do it at a lower cap hit.

I don't agree with @xwalker on Parnell, overall. I think the guy's a serviceable backup but not as good as the starter, but give me a poster who'll share his time and his thoughts and put his own opinion out there over unfunny drive-by snark every day of the week.

At least try to amuse us if you're going to bother to put on the clown suits.

You might want to check with Risen though. Maybe he can validate your perception.

Sorry, do not have the time nor inclination to break down each play with my handy dandy "game film" only to ultimately decide to twist it to confirm my own biases and then spin it to further my own perception of the player. He hates Free, loves Parnell, everyone gets it. At this stage, it is almost a running joke at this stage and even he would probably admit it.

Sounds like a real waste of time if you ask me and is about as self-serving and agenda-filled as you can get.

you do remember that he only has a little over 3 years playing O line (not much game time remember) EVER. He NEVER played O line in HS or College. Did not start until he got with us. DE, TE, never O line until we got him. Compare that to Free who played it in HS and College and all his time in the Pros.

he certainly has a bias for Parnell but I am not surprised you dismiss everything else. As long as it does not fit your agenda then ignore it. Just like the romo haters.

@xwalker and I have our differences at times but he's often right about things. And if I don't think so I tell him why but after looking over as much info as he did. I still respect the fact he takes the time to look at film. You have this disdain for looking at film. And while I agree you must be careful what you read into it for various reasons, at least you have some objective criteria for forming an opinion other than either perpetuation of a myth or someone else's opinion who often hasn't seen any film either.

I'll point out your and others remarks about players you were very wrong about and didn't 'have time' to review what's available out there. Free is a great example of this. And you and others have never or seldom gone on record to tell others 'I really gave you a hard time about so and so and I was wrong'. So I empathise with @Idgit over his remarks.

I find it difficult to watch what's going on from the TV and really begin to understand what happened. The view is limited and it surrounds the ball. The All 22 is a boon to the more serious fan. When you poo poo other's opinions and you haven't 'had the time' to look at anything objectively then your opinion, which you're entitled to, means nada, zip, zilch from an objective football standpoint.

It appears you'd rather run down others opinions when you actually have little objective data to make a retort. This is why you and others get some grief at times.

If you haven't seen anything you make a poor witness.

You're entitled to your opinion but don't get butt hurt, condescending, or offensive when people point out the above.

Here's an idea: contribute to a discussion rather than taking a cheap shot at somebody else's content. Then perhaps you and I can talk football at some point.

@xwalker can more than handle himself in a football debate. And that's what this thread should be about. It's a good topic.

I've liked Free for several years but I've always said he was upgradeable. I will say from what I've seen this year in review he is playing some of his best ball. I think it will be tough to replace him and I'm not sure when they will do so. As much as I like Parnell's talent I'm not seeing that completely translate to the field consistently. So.....

Free will be able money and how they feel about Parnell and Weems. They are not going to dismiss Free without an adequate replacement discounting the money issue. And the draft comes after that decision. Rock and hard place. My guess is Free has some small amount of leverage; just not a lot.
