So, let's run down what we will be expected to nail in this seven pick draft:

1. Quality starting pass rusher
2. Starting right tackle or at very least decent swing
3. Starting corner
4. Starting safety or at least a quality nickel back
5. Second TE who can do more than block
6. Backup tailback/3rd down back (don't you dare say we got Dunbar, I will keeeel you)
7. WR for the future who can play ST

McClay pulls that off, get his bust made in Canton.

Just goes to show you that free agency is important and cap room is important.

Even though this has been whispered for weeks, this is a pants down moment.

Unless of course you buy the nonsense that Chaz Green can play. Or better yet, just stay on the field.

Fortunately free agency last for a few more months, in addition to the second FA of post June 1 cuts. Not a big believer in Chaz but I would love to be wrong.

Chaz Green has 2 years left on his rookie contract. I think we should give him a shot to win the position. But we should probably sign a veteran for insurance, unless we trust Cleary enough.
As unreliable as he is, you bring in a veteran and make him earn it.

If he is as good as people around here say, he will win and the veteran is the swing, which we don't have anyways.

Handing it over to him just because we drafted him is a dumb move.

If you're so smug and sure of yourself why don't you put your "money" where your mouth is.

Let's make a bet.

If we're better than 8-8 at the conclusion of next season I get to own your avatar and sig from the moment our season ends till draft day. If we're 8-8 or worse you own mine.

How confident are you?
Sig bets are way more cooler.

Let Cleary and Green battle it out.

I dont think we miss a beat with Chaz. Except Chaz is always hurt, so the question is will we miss a beat with his back up?

There isn't a wave of June 2nd cuts anymore, hasn't been for years.

Teams can designate up to 2 players as June 1 cuts and go ahead and move on from them at the onset of the off-season. There is no advantage to the teams that do this, they still have to wait until June 2nd to realize the cap savings, but it allows the players to hit the market while it's hot.

A few veterans might shake loose following the draft.
