They need to stay far away from his contract. Leave it alone. Biggest cap hit in the NFL at his position, but I don't want to be paying him down the road.

his contract ends after 2019 season.
we are not cutting dez for this contract...

Although he was injured a lot I was hoping we would have signed Menelik Watson, I cussed when I saw the Broncos had signed him.

Re-sign Jon Cooper.
Basically make him compete at LG vs Chaz Green at RT with Collins moving if Cooper is the better option.

Guard/Tackle now a consideration at 28.

I'd kick tires on Fluker, but short-term and no bidding war.

Not a fan of Fluker. His lateral movement skills suck. Straight ahead, he can be a load in the running game, but he's not good in pass pro.

We obviously need to get a FA tackle for insurance....

We need to restructure dez probably...

Unreal that we have next to zero cap space with as many holes as we have..... I seriously cannot wait till we get out of Tonys contract I hopes its a lesson never to get stuck in a similar one again

The cap space gained by Free retiring is more than enough to go get a free agent OT if that's what they want to do.

I hear you, just want him a stop-gap. I think he's better than Cleary or Looney..can't trust Green to stay upright.

True but plug him in between Frederick and smith and I think that'll do a ton for him in pass pro. He's actually a dominant run blocker.

Do they get any cap room back for this?

Don't know how true this is but....

http://russellstreetreport.com/salarycap/nfl-salary-cap-faqs/

How does the release or retirement of a player affect the Salary Cap?

When a player is released (or retires), the team is relieved of having the pay the player’s base salary (P5) and any Roster Bonus that may become due after that, but still will need to account for any Signing or Option Bonus prorations that haven’t yet counted against the Salary Cap.

Using the contract example above, if the player was released in year 4 of the deal, the team would not have to pay that Roster Bonus or the player’s base salary (P5) of $7M (or any base salaries thereafter). However, the year 4 Bonus pro-rations ($2M + $1M) would still count and the year 5 Bonus prorations ($2M + $1M) would accelerate and immediately count against the Cap in year 4. So, the team would still have to account for $6M of the player’s remaining Bonus prorations. Since he was expected to count $10M against the Cap had he been on the team (his Cap number), the team would realize a Cap savings of $4M due to his release and have to carry $6M in “dead money” against the Salary Cap in year 4.

Since the prorations from year 5 accelerated against the Cap, there will be no future Cap implications from the release.

The retirement of a player is treated the same as the release of a player.

And how would you possibly know that?

Because Go Cowboys!?

How do I know Leary can't play RT? Or how do I know the Cowboys have made no attempt to play Collins there? Both are pretty obvious, but I'd be happy to clarify either

I'm a little baffled by this thread. For at least two seasons I've constantly heard that Free sucks, gets our QB's injured, blocks like a revolving door, is a liability, etc, etc. And here we are at the moment so many have been waiting for, yet there's barely any jubilation 7 pages in?

What gives guys?

We will most certainly get better at RT now, right? RIGHT?

We can't get any worse....can we?????
