From a personnel perspective don't create too many new holes

Ferguson can replace Schultz.

Bland can play outside CB with Lewis at Nickel.

I like Fowler if cheap but if Quinn leaves, Fowler will follow him.
I dont read much into Bland playing mostly slot. He has the size and skill level to play both slot and boundry. He is a guy I expect to come into camp a better player. Im very confident in him as a #2 CB

Id keep McGovern over shultz
If we can get barr and fowler on vet min/team friendly deals id do it. Theyre good depth players.
Would like to keep Lewis if hes good, dunno how the injury would affect browns speed.
Agreed on everything else.
I thought McGovern was at least league average this year. I would definitely consider bringing him back

I think an elite WR lets you move on from Schultz. Especially if its a guy like Hopkins who is consistent as they come. With pro bowl level WR's, I think Ferguson and Hendershot are established enough to do what we would need from the position.
I still think you we need to add another veteran to the group, let's not forget both players mentioned just have 1 year experience. You could be right, adding another high end receiver, could lessen the need to keep Shultz, but they still need to protect themselves as it is a position that usually takes a lot of development on the next level.

As I wrote to another poster, if they move on from Shultz, think they need to add another veteran to the group as all they have is 1 yr players at the position that usually has a steep learning curve. Is Bland a better slot corner then he is on the outside? Can Lewis/Brown make it back from such a major injury? Agree, Fowler will be following Quinn. Wonder if Quinn takes Lve and Wilson with him as well.

Yea, I mean see the negative EPA note.

Hes an average starter IMO on a team void of weapons. Very relatable IMO. Need to be dynamic for me to pay a TE.
This is also a great year to draft one. I do think though, they would need to add a veteran to the group.

A free agent WR is such bad value in the current market. I’d rather spend money elsewhere like DT or LB and draft a WR.

Agree for the most part but it’s a brutal WR class…most of the best prospects that fit what we need are small dudes that might be slot only guys.Plus you run the Tolbert risk.

I’m not opposed to it, and Dak loved Beas early in his career, just not sure if the FO values those guys.

I maybe in the minority, but I don't think this roster to too far off. I would try to keep the personnel together as much as possible and address the need areas:

Offense

Keep-Tyron, Pollard, Shultz, Rush
Let go-Zeke, McGovern
Add-Elite WR, draft G/T, RB
Moore will be back, but we need more talent at WR/RB/OL.

Defense

Keep-Hankins, Lve, Wilson
Let go-Lewis/Brown (major injury), Fowler, Barr
Add-Veteran CB, Draft CB, Depth at LB, DT and DE
Hire a DC that runs a similar scheme
We have a good team but we need to take some chances to be elite. I just don’t think the Joneses are willing to come out of their comfort zone. You know we could have had Brandon Cooks for a second round pick. He has elite speed and would have been a great number 2 for CeeDee. The problem is Jerrah wanted to put on a circus show and chase after OBJ so the Cowboys can lead sports center every night. Right now Jerrah is trying to find away to keep Quinn. What he needs to be doing is finding away to bring in an elite defensive tackle and wide receiver in here to improve are talent even if it means trading draft picks and messing up the cap.

He was a big part of our passing attack, can we match his lost production with someone else? That is the biggest question. I rather move on, but you need to find a capable starter.
Gallup should be better next season. That should help with the loss of Shultz. They rushed Gallup back to soon. The two receivers who were hurt in the same time frame OBJ and the Alabama kid either stayed out for season or only played at end of the season.

My understanding, the Cooks compensation was agreed upon, but the Cowboys wanted a window to restructure Cooks deal and weren't allowed to do so. Agree, we have to take chances and become active in both fa and the trade market. Cap space, does you no good when you are watching the games now.

If Joseph played like Bland this season we would be dancing around Dallas and saying we have our number 2. Bland has proven to be the number 2 corner and will only get better. I actually like what I saw from Israel in the slot at the end of the season as well. I think we will be fine at cornerback. I think Brown will come back.

Even if Gallup does improve he’s still a 3 at best. He’s just not a good separator and lacks that short area quickness to be that guy.

He thrived when Cooper and Lamb were eating coverage but outside of that has been mediocre at best.

This^^^^^ as someone tweeted we are closer to the prize than NOT. We were ONE game from the NFCCG and two from the Super Bowl. Remember back in the 90s, the 49ers lost I think 3 straight divisional games to us before finally breaking the curse. I said in another thread, with the exception of a few players, I'd no problem bringing the entire team back.

Even this approach would require one heck of an off season/draft

I think they should revisit a trade for Cooks. He is the speed guy the Cowboys are lacking.

100%. If we can get them to eat some of his contract he’d be a great target.

Even if we got him, I’d still double down in the draft in early rounds. MG will likely be gone after next season.

Get a bunch of CBs and draft a backup DT.

This is the answer.
