The best hope was always to work extremely hard to keep it from ever being a circus, and Bill Parcells did as good of a job of that as anyone could have hoped.
Now football is the story. I suspect that sits well with the coaches and most of the players.
And don't underestimate how everyone will take being coached differently now. If I'm Tony Romo, I don't mind being told what I did wrong. But when every mistake is used by someone like TO as ammo in a locker room war against me, I'm going to be a lot more thin-skinned. I'm not going to want a coach to say much to me because I know I've got a guy over in the corner who is just waiting to point out every one of my mistakes to the media or other players...
And if these same coaches are too scared to deal with TO, but they want to jump me, that isn't going to sit well with me either.
Now, the politics of everything go out the window. The coaches don't have to compete with the players for authority and control in the locker room. Players don't have to worry about someone trying to "spin" coaching or a blatant double standard that coddles malcontents and hangs others out to dry.
Excellent post.
