From the Iggs newspaper today. They think we are running Zeke into the ground and they love it

Cowboys (-6) at 49ers
: The Niners are 0-6, but they've lost their last five games by a combined 13 points, and none by more than three points. They've been in almost every game.

Meanwhile, this Zeke Elliott situation is a mess for the Cowboys. He's on pace for 390 touches this year, and he's been ineffective. He's running at a 3.7 yards-per-carry clip, with 122 touches and only 28 first downs. He has clearly put on weight and doesn't look like the same player, even if his offensive line has also predictably regressed to some degree.

If the Cowboys want to run him into the ground while he isn't even playing well, all while simultaneously causing a major distraction, the rest of the NFC East should take joy in watching his suspension get delayed repeatedly.

Had Elliott just been suspended for the Cowboys' first six games, it would already almost be over and they'd probably have the same record. Instead, it is becoming a year-long distraction, and Elliott is likely still going to serve those six games at some point.

I'll still take the Cowboys here, I guess, but I love the value of getting six points, and wouldn't be surprised if the Niners won this game outright.

They are going to be really disappointed when Elliott doesn't serve a 6 game suspension.

Plus, we should pound Elliott into the ground. If you are ever going to get any value out of a TB, it's now, when he's young.

We screwed this up anyway taking a TB that high in the draft, so you might as well use up all his prime years before you let him walk after his rookie contract because of fears he might be damaged goods at that point.

There's a lot of truth here, actually. It's why so many think drafting a RB that high is not wise. It's a position where players just wear down too fast. I certainly think 390 touches is a bit high.

That said, he's still very young. He should be able to handle it now.

what a dumb statement about if he had taken the suspension from the beginning it would now be over. well no duhhh! it’s not the games of suspension that’s important. it’s him being labeled a women beater. this goes beyond football.

Although, it's interesting that there has been this loose analysis out there that TBs regress the next year when they have over 300 carries in a season (the Cowboys actually used this partly to justify not resigning Murray) and sure enough, Elliott has clearly regressed after excessive carries last year.

There's been early whisperings lately of a possible settlement in regards to Elliot's suspension issue. Cutting his proposed suspension time to about two or three games instead of six is being considered by both sides. Elliott would get rest in the meantime and start back with fresh legs if wear and tear on him is actually an issue at all. In any case, the aforementioned is an ongoing possibility under consideration.

Foolish thinking.

NFL history has shown that total touches are meaningless in terms of burning out RB's. Carries are what matters (and even that is disputed by some) and that number is at 380 carries.

Currently, EE is on pace for 336 carries for the season.

Last year thru the first 6 games he was on pace for 365 carries. And he ended up with 322 carries for the regular season.

Given that trend from last year, we might see EE get around 300 carries for the season. Of course, the defense will need to step up.

I think he's lost some speed, but mostly due to the nonsense of the NFL.

And again, it's easy to sit there and say you should take a 6-game suspension when you're not the one being accused of beating a woman repeatedly. And we may not have won the Cardinals game without EE.

The only thing that can turn this nightmare into a beautiful dream is going into the playoffs and playing the Eagles in the divisional round and absolutely blowing them out in Philly.
Yes!!!

I really think they're going to backslide. I'm just hoping it's an actual implosion, but it wouldn't surprise me.

They likely aren't going 15-1 or 14-2, true.

But I doubt they are going to implode where they got from 5-1 to a 9-7 team unless a blimps their stadium and wipes out half their roster.

I think some are forgetting they have played 4 of their first 6 games on the road. 6 out of the last 10 at home. Just win the home games and they are 11-5. I think that's the low end, 13-3 being the high end. I'd say 12-4 is a good bet.

12-4 and a one and done in the playoffs, works for me. They get a low draft position and another big dissapointment.

At work, from Cowboy haters, in the 90's I heard this year after year after year about Emmit. Sure they one 1 SB but they are running Emmit into the ground. Sure they have won 2 but they are running Emmit into the ground, etc.
