I get why the thought is that Romo doesn't have a huge trade value...

But then I ask myself if Houston or Denver deserves to have a top 3 QB for free? Just a starting QB who isn't as capable as Romo cost something...and these guys think they should get 1 for free just because we have 2 of them....

Then we should get a elite pass rushing DE for free...ok Houston release JJ Watt and we deserve him for free.

signing cutler is a good way to get the gm fired.
actually signing romo is also a good way to get him fired also if they do not have an experienced QB like Osweiller for backup

Having lived in Houston for most of my life, it was hard to escape Texans talk. R. Smith's job really isn't in jeopardy. McNair is the one who forced Brock on him and O'Brien.

Smith has screwed up enough to get fired ten times over yet he is still there. The head coach is the one who should be worried and he has little input on who his QB will be.

I have no doubt that they screw this one up too and Bill pays the price.

If you were Houston and know that Romo will be a June 1 cut then why would you offer anything substantial when you can pick him up without giving up any picks? Just need to beat Denver for his services.
Because Romo has said Denver is his preferred destination. HOU would feel pretty dumb if all they had to do was send a 4th to secure his services and instead are left with Savage.

They can wait for him to be released sure...not sure you wanna take that chance. Jerry needs to call Jax and get any pick needed just to stick it to the other two teams. Especially since we play Denver this year. Just my opinion.

Cool, what are they saying in Houston about the pre-deadline trade with Os?
and the lack of a starting QB?

So Smith is teflon man there for some reason...

Not sure now, live in LA and don't listen to their talk radio anymore. I still think Romo ends up there when he is released next week.

Has anyone thought that maybe Romo has agreed to not go to Houston in return for being released by Jerry?

Would be funny to think that Houston is acting all high and mighty saying they won't trade for Romo, when in reality, they don't stand an ice cubes' chance in hell of getting Romo anyway.

Jerry could just be using them as trade leverage to get a pick from Denver or some other team. Or it could just be late and I am hallucinating.

Cowboys won't have Romo one way or another, and we may not get anything for him. I have come to terms with this.

But this is the definition of getting too cute if you're Houston. You are a Romo away from being SB contenders, and are wanting to have the cake and eat it too by getting Romo and keeping the draft pick.

Almost hopes Denver swoops in, and wins the bidding war at this point and Houston throws their SB away trying to be the smartest GM in the room.

JJ can keep Romo this year and let them sweat more. WE HAVE the cap space to keep him.

You have to think Dallas is receiving some calls for them to pull a complete 180 with their intentions at the last minute.

Perhaps that was planned out but I doubt it.
What intentions are those that the Dallas Cowboys had ? Or are you referring to the sports reporter who stated unconfirmed by anyone at Dallas hq that the Cowboys were releasing Romo on Thursday .. I've yet to hear the release report confimed by anyone in Dallas

I'll be honest. If we end up cutting Romo, I hope he ends up in Denver. And then with each struggle week to week by the Texans, I am going to troll their most popular message board and remind them that it was their sheer brilliance that led to them thinking Tom Savage would lead them to the promised land.

Dallas still holds leverage. The Texans need a QB. End of story.

Yep.

FWIW, there was a tweet from one of their bloggers saying that while the Texans appear to be holding firm, there were some people surprised Romo wasn't released by now. That maybe Jones is crazy enough to drag this thing out and make Houston really sweat.
