Fuel to the fire, whether right or wrong - Ben, Bell & Brown will sit Sun

If Tomlin's team makes it to Houston, and we don't, critics will have a field day.

And.

If Garrett's team makes it to Houston, and they don't, critics will have a field day... probably more so if NE is the opponent.

They don't have a bye, so the situations are totally different.

(To be clear... the original post merely asserted that the critics would take this meat and publicly chew on it, if certain events transpire... not that they would be necessarily legit in doing so.)
true, but they will do that anyway with cowboys win or lose on several issues. Doesnt matter what other teams do.
Tony vs Dak
Playing not Resting
So they better win !

What will be funny is if the Browns beat them (and San Fran loses), costing Cleveland the first pick.

My opinion:

1. You have a rookie in the most significant position on the team. He will be playing in the play-offs for the first time in the pros. There will be a few days off after the eagles game and then it gets serious. Why give him extra time to mull over where he is and what he has done. Focus him on the eagles and keep him from having too much time to allow this to sink in. Busy hands and minds.

2. While Romo might need the rust knocked off, of the last five games he has played, he has been injured in three. If this is about trading Romo, why risk him getting hurt and ruining any shot you have.

By the way. Expect to get much less than you think. If Dallas were to get a high three for him, take that to the bank and cash it.

3. You will be playing some significant players on the offensive line since the team has only 7 offensive linemen and you know Smith will sit out. Dak will still have protection because he can move. While we all remember Romo and his spidey-sense in dodging defenders at the last possible moment, can he or can't he, and no one knows. It is a far cry from looking good on the scout team versus looking good when live ammo in coming in hot.

4. Keep the ball rolling. Keep the team delivering a beat down. Be consistent and keep the pedal to the metal.

I understand the risk, but this is beginning to look like a very special season. Keep the offense rolling and putting pressure on the other team. Keep the offense focused and having fun.

This is a season of unbelievable records and accomplishments. 14-2 suits that standard that has been set.

Look up, get up, and never give up. Someone said that once, and I think it might be important.

Why is it any different?

The whole reason they're sitting is to be healthy for the playoffs, not to play in a meaningless final regular season game.

I'm curious about what the Giants are doing. They let the Commanders into the playoffs if they rest players and the Commanders win. Barring a Lions and Packers tie.

The Giants say that they are playing to win the game.

Ur giving players two weeks off till game day as opposed to just one. There are negatives to that.

It's a gamble either way.

They play wildcard weekend, we don't...I don't think giving our healthy players this weekend off would be a good idea, I'd like them to play at least until half.

Yeah, but the whole point of the article was that they aren't playing so they won't risk injury for the playoffs, which is much more important. The bye doesn't really have anything to do with it.

I'm sure the Pats will rest some guys too in the 2nd half.

Pittsburgh plays Wild Card weekend. We do not.

Big difference.

Not only that, but Rothlisberger has played in 3 SBs and several other Steelers have played in 1, they know how to win in the playoffs. Our QB and RB are rookies and most of our roster has played in only 2 playoff games.

The bye does have something to do with it. What teams weigh is momentum vs risk of injury. With us having a bye, resting Dak and Zeke against Philly means 3 weeks before they play a game. If we did not secure a bye, then it probably makes sense to rest them vs Philly because we aren't facing as much time off.

Sure, momentum plays into it.

But the question is, is guaranteeing the player for the playoffs a better choice than risking losing him for the playoff run to get reps in a meaningless game?

There are a lot of injuries that are 4-6 weeks. If Zeke suffers a high ankle sprain, a break, a tear, or anything against a divisional opponent that hates us, and we lose him for the playoffs... were those reps worth it? Because then that bye doesn't really help at all.

A lot of things can happen. I'm sure the Titans and Raiders didn't think they'd lose their starting QB's right before the playoffs.

How far do we get without Zeke and Sean Lee? If the answer is "not very far", then I'm not sure how you play them. I think we will, but I'd keep them on a serious pitch count. Probably first half and done.
