I think he's shown some potential in the few opportunities he's gotten this season. He definitely looks like he has the talent to be one of the better TEs in the league. I don't know if he looks like a future All-Pro like Witten, but I think we'll be set at TE for many years after Witten throws in the towel.

I also think his success depends on the QB throwing it to him. He'll be here a lot longer than Romo will. I can't see a 2nd TE have too much success in these scheme. And I wouldn't be surprised if Witten and Romo retire together (in 3 years or so). When that time comes, Escobar will take over starting TE duties and I'll think he'll be perfectly capable of doing a good job. But if we can't get a competent QB after Romo retires, then Escobar's talent won't be utilized. Bad QBs make good players look mediocre, and great QBs make mediocre players like excellent (look at Denver's TE).

That being said, I still don't think spending a 2nd round pick on Escobar was a good move. I don't see him really making an impact until after Witten retires (which I think is 3 years). Our season was decimated because of an all-time bad defense. We could have used that 2nd round pick on any position on defense.

He thinks that Gavon will emerge because he is "buds" with Orton. And as far as Witten slowing down "greatly" that is a joke as he had a career year just last season. And this season the Cowboys peeled it back some and were more conservative. Witten will get close to 70 catches, his YPC is up over 2.5 from last year his touchdowns more than doubles from last year. Yeah, he is slowing down. Bottom line for me was last April when Jerry went TE I said what!!!!! Warford was on the board and I was celebrating then Jerrah Happened. In addition I support and root for Escobar to be the greatest TE in the history of the game but Jerry's Wisdom pick hasn't matured yet. Larry F****** Warford!

You follow your board.

On my silly board Larry Warford from Kentucky was early 2nd round But looking around the analysts that specialize on the draft I saw many other late 1st and 2nd round grades on LW. I wish we could say the same for GE. Dallas needed a guard. Dallas still needs a guard. We "reached" on a TE because Jerry thinks he is the TE Guru. I would wager 9 out 10 boards would have LW higher than GE if not 10 of 10. And we needed a guard in the worst way. Now as luck would have it my hopeful 2nd round pick is looking as good as our top pick 70 Frederick. Could have had the offensive line set! Follow a board that works!

If Pablo can develop the type of body control n knowledge of when and how to use it then he will be a splendid pick.

Warford went in the 3rd round. If he was missed on then he was missed on by virtually every team.

Please cut out the theatrics. Oh and how much film study did you do on all 64 prospects that went before LW?

You guys sit and cherry pick when you think you're "right" and simply never mention it when you're proven categorically wrong.

I still remember the uproar over taking Fred when we did.

Don't like our board? Fine. But we did what we should have based on the work of actual scouts employed by an actual NFL team.

Again, please tell me the extent to which you put together your board? How many plane flights did you take? How many games did you attend? How many coaches did you talk to? Were you at the combine? Which pro days?

Silly board is right.

His catching radius is crazy, time to use him like Graham down in New Orleans...

Escobar has some natural ability and is a very smooth athlete with natural catching ability but he is another player on the Cowboys who is underwhelming in the "Passion" Category.. Not saying he is a soft guy because I can't know for sure but football is a game full of Type A personalities and we seem to be developing quite the collection of the opposite (Claiborne, T Will, Escobar, BW Webb, Miles, Bruce Carter, etc etc etc)

Could've used a DT, G, or S before we drafted a TE. In fact we shouldn't draft another TE for 5 more years, but we will. Probably in the 2nd or 3rd round in 2014. That's just how DUMB JJ is...

He should be converted into a wide receiver so we can use another 2nd rounder on a tight end in the next draft.

I like the player but still hate the pick. There are so many guys I would have taken before him that would have had a much more immediate impact. We all know Escobar will never see significant reps as long as Witten is a Cowboy, no matter how good his hands are.

Our pick was in a really meaty portion of the draft too, we could have came away with another Frederick - instant impact, type.

And frankly, I'm still annoyed we didn't double up on offensive line or go DL after passing on Floyd. Larry Warford and Frederick would have been great young pieces to add to the blossoming line.

I expect more from Escobar next year. Especially in red zone. His timing and adjustments should be improved and Romo will look for Dez then Escobar for jump balls or back shoulder throws in red zone.

Theatrics? Are you kidding me? You just won the Tony Award on that one. Now back to football....I didn't like the GE pick and wanted LW. Dallas still needs a G and Dallas still has an AllPro type TE. It aint GE

They switched to a 4-3 and did not draft any DL, and we see what that caused. How anyone can think this was a good pic is beyond me. He maybe great someday but we had one of the worse D in the history of the NFL.
