Nice change of pace for today.

I know a lot of you were not happy about this pick. I agree it seemed very strange to go after a TE so early when there were so many other needs. Well, whats done is done and there is no going back.
Witten looks like he is slowing down quite a bit so this pick may end up paying dividends soon. He has shown some potential from the little action he has seen.
I found this little highlight to be pretty impressive from his SDSU days.
Just something to check out while waiting for the game tomorrow night.

He has terrific hands. I like his upside as a receiver. He has a big frame (much bigger than Hanna) and should be able to develop into a reason blocker.

The future with Escobar may arrive tomorrow. BTB pointed out that Orton has been throwing to him all year on the scout team - Hanna, too.

I'm ready for him to blossom into the type of TE Witten has become and think he has a bright future here.

Long run I think he helps alot. For 2013 a lineman either side would have been more useful. Not complaining about the pick though. Not close to the the three year rule yet. The Claiborne pick on the other hand.

I see him as a Jay Novachek-type TE.

I'm not so concerned with his blocking.

That will get better.

We need 75 catches and more than a 6 yard per catch average.

Escobar can do this.

They just have to throw him the ball and design some routes to get him the rock.

I like him, but he wouldn't be the first TE this team has drafted high only to see them leave.

It would not surprise me at all if Escobar had a few catches down the seam tomorrow. This is one of Ortons stronger throws and a good matchup against the eagles safeties and linebackers.

Me neither.

With Orton playing..

I'd expect his timing to be better with the second string guys like Escobar Beasley and Dewayne Harris than he will be with the starters.

So Dallas would be wise to get them on the field for Orton, too.

I hope the immediate future of Escobar is the weight room followed by lots of time on a blocking sled. But if you remember Witten's rookie season, he was not a blocking machine.

I didn't like the pick but i'm actually intrigued by what i've seen. He's not the blocker Martellus was but he actually has hands. Martellus catches footballs with his chest. Escobar seems to have the ability to go and get it. I don't like the pick but I see the potential there.

Maybe when we get a real HC, we will utilize him up the seams more...

I'm not big on the pick, we didn't need a tight end. We gave up on Bennet a few years ago and let john Phillips go. I would rather have either of them than escobar

I still like the pick also, didn't 100% agree with it at the time, but later on I could understand it and accept it. I think soon many that didn't and still don't like it, will see the value and like it. Or at least accept it better.
Then some will never like it, either because they don't want to admit being wrong, don't want to admit JJ was right. Or both. Even though it truly wasn't all JJ. But in some eyes it is.
Or it's just their own opinion for their own reasons and that's ok too.

I wanted a guard or a DT but if he helps us win tmrw with some big catches I will finally get over the "Wasted pick."

He's made as many plays this year as once might expect of a player playing behind Jason Witten. Perhaps the coaching staff saw more immediate development from Terence Williams then they did Escobar. It doesn't mean he won't end up being a solid player for the cowboys.

I think Escobar has a very bright future ahead of him; unfortunately, it won't be for this team. He'll end up leaving and turn into a better version of Anthony Fasano/Marty B.
