Adam Jones on his big hit

Caught up with cornerback Adam Jones briefly after the afternoon practice to talk about his massive hit on running back Alonzo Coleman in the morning practice. The two were joking around together after the afternoon practice before Jones spent time signing autographs.
"Alonzo tried to get a good pop on me, but I got him," Jones said.
Jones continues to battle Terrell Owens one-on-one every opportunity he gets. Wade Phillips said Jones wants to be next in line every time against Owens and positions himself so he will matchup with him. Jones knocked Owens down on a long pass with tight coverage late in Saturday's second practice. The battle is one to watch the rest of training camp.

That's great to see. You want your corners to be confident almost to the point of arrogance. These two will sharpen each other. If Jones can keep up with Owens for most of TC, he just might take the starting spot from Henry. Surprisingly, though, I guess Jones is the better nickel CB.

Newman will be the nickel more than likely. He will start on the outside and move in when the offense spreads it out. Or they could do that with Adam, who knows?

Jones is probably better than TNew in many ways. That's just a guess but we'll see. Jones will likely help make many of the CBs better if they pay attention.

Just so long as TO doesn't get hurt. AJ can take out his big hits on our opponents; when's our first preseason game?

Newman is the best CB on the team buddy, he takes away half a field.

Going again TO ought to knock the rust off Jones fairly quickly. I'd like to hear the trash talking between them on the field. Comedy at it's best.

Wade must be salivating. The D will be better this year because of the additions and they've had a year to understand his system so that will just add to it.

While Jones is rubbing the rust off vs. TO, hopefully it isn't rubbing Henry the wrong way, playing second fiddle and all. Maybe he'll realize the move, 3rd CB/safety, will prolong his career and he'll be a team player about it.

Yeah I bet Campbell puts up huge numbers like interceptions, times he was sacked, throwaways because he is afraid of getting hit repeatedly. His biggest numbers could be how many games he will miss after the Sept. 28 game.
