I don't think posters know who the best backup QB is for our team. But root and poot for who you want.

BROOKS BOLLINGER?????????????..

the cowboys are in a unique situation backup QB wise in that our #2 will probably not be around next year-hence ideally our current #3 should be able to take over as #2 next year-bollinger is not qualified(and its not even close)

I may not know much, but I feel pretty confident in saying Brooks Bollinger is horrible. I don't know why we'd want to groom him as a potential No. 2 instead of Bartel (whom I don't like much either).

What do you base that on? He was completely and utterly outplayed by Bartel the other night.

On a personal note I'd rather they continue to groom Bartel. On the PS. But they still don't call me for advice anymore.

Has it occurred to anyone that Simms may not want to come here to be a 3rd stringer? He has the chance to start for a couple teams(Balt,Chi,Minn). If we get to our 3rd QB we're screwed anyways and can always call Vinny T.

I think Simms goes to Baltimore.

That would be great. Why lose a roster spot to a #3 when you can groom them on the PS. If Simms is that good then by all means lets get him here. If not someone who may become a quality stater someday then let it go.

but Simms wants to come here, so I'm sure he knows the situation and would be fine w/ it

like alot of people on here, I wouldn't like us to choose Bollinger over Simms

As the biggest Wisconsin Badger and Dallas Cowboys fan on the planet, maybe I can shed some light on this ;).........First off, in no way is Bollinger as bad as some of you guys are making him out to be. His stats suggest otherwise. Think he would do well in our system. You cant base your opinion of him on ONE preseason game as im sure thats all many of you have seen of him. Bollinger is much like Romo in SOME regards. He's an excellent "Middle of the field " passer, like Romo. This is a good thing, means your pretty accurate as the windows in the middle of the field are smaller, gets congested in there. He is also highly athletic, mobile. Very good at avoiding the rush and making something out of nothing. Having said that, heres where it gets REAL INTERESTING, follow along.......when this staff was first put together Garrett wanted Wisconsins Paul Chryst "the badger O co" to come in and be the QB's coach. Even though Chryst only worked with Bollinger for a season it was no secret he was fond of the kid. Very coachable. Chryst came within a wisker of taking the job. In the end he turned it down and it was then offered to Wade Wilson. Paul and his brother Geep have been known in college coaching circles for quite some time now for putting out prolific offenses. These guys are much Like Garrett, they were both drawing up plays since they were in short pants. Very innovative. Geep now works for the Panthers. It is my belief that win lose or draw, this is Wade Phillips last season in Dallas. Next year Jason Garrett will be named head coach and Paul Chryst will be brought in as offensive coordinater. Garrett will still call the plays but Chryst will help him draw up gameplans/schemes. Garrett and Chryst have been longtime friends, as Ive said, they are ALOT alike. They worked together in the old world league of American football and still maintain close ties. Garrett pushed for him last year, this year he gets him. Bollinger will do just fine as a backup, we bring him in and also draft someone to compete against and to groom. This move is ALOT more about NEXT season then this one as Brad Johnson will be Romo's primary backup this season. Ya got it now?........:)

Why in the world is garret not able to pick his guys? If jerry keeps this up i don't think he'll wanna be head coach when wade is gone.

......HUH,....Garrett wanted Chryst. Chryst was offered the job BEFORE wade Wilson was but Chryst turned it down to remain at wisconsin. As Ive said, I believe Garrett when head coach will offer Chryst the O co slot which Chryst will except.

Us Badger fans know were losing Chryst after this season. Luckily its not all that bad for me though. He goes from a team I love, to my first love, the Dallas Cowboys!! Not just too bad....:D

Why in thw world did they choose amendola & jefferson over some of the guys who got cut from other teams who were put on the waiver wire? There were clearly two better choice than them. What's up with some of these decisions?

......uMMMMMMM, Maybe because they know our offense and we are down to two healthy w.r's for the 1st game. If one of those guys were forced into action at least they would know the terminology and proper routes. I mean, its not like Romo can look at some recent pickup and tell him to run down to the broken mailbox and turn in, I'll hit ya as soon as you make your break!....LMAO. Now,....back on topic....

Bollinger is better than Bartel by a pretty good margin. More accurate, throws less interceptions, and is a WHOLE lot more mobile/athletic. Having said that he will never be anymore than a solid number two, and thats only with the right coaching AND on the right team. Think he fits here in Dallas. At least he's a guy who's weaknesses can be gameplanned around if he ever had to start. You can devise a gameplan around a guy like him due to his athleticism and still come away with a win with the right team around him while he's in busdriver mode.

In the right situation He is a guy like Jay Fiedler. Lots of MOVE stuff, can milk an offense along fairly well in the right setting. Make some stuff happen with his feet. HEY..............waddaya want from a guy who's never gonna play anyway?!!! :D
