Secondary Re-Shuffling

Just talked to Terence Newman to get his general reaction to the events of the last 24 hours or so and he said he was "shocked" to learn that both Terrell Owens and Roy Williams were cut.

He had a lot more to say, but one thing he did add was that he expects to see second-year cornerback Orlando Scandrick playing free safety and moving Ken Hamlin to strong safety which means Mike Jenkins will start at the other corner.

It's not set in stone, but it sounds like those wheels are in motion.

Darren Woodson said he thought they would move Scandrick around (FS/slot) also on the lunchbreak.

That means we need to go after Springs and target CB in the draft.

I'm all for this move.

......what a joke.
It puts the best four DB's on the field on all three downs. As long as Scandrick can handle the FS spot it looks to be a smart move.

I'd rather cut Watkins we don't need Jason Campbell scrambling on us and running him over again....

What the...

Really?

I don't see this at all. Scandrick is too valuable as a slot corner.

I think T-New is in on some pre-draft smokescreening. ;)

Maybe in certain packages but you don't take a good young CB and permanently move him to safety. Thats just plain stupid especially when you don't have any other CBs of his calibre behind him. What are they going to do for the #3-#5 CB spots? Let Ball and a couple of rookies fill them? I don't think so! I don't put any faith in this report.

Huh...interesting to say the least.

Scandrick in the slot seems like the best choice to me. He's pretty small to be a FS??

#3-5 don't start. On 3rd downs Scandrick would move to the slot which is exactly what Darren Woodson did his whole career. Ball would be the next corner in line to play. They will probably still look for a cheap vet corner or find one in the draft.

Hamlin has shown he can play SS with any consistency.

Need to draft a real SS rather than trying to plug in parts.

Well I like Scandrick to FS more than Henry.

I suppose I could live with that move if Dallas brought in a capable 3rd CB.

Shawn Springs would be a nice fit. Too nice.

I'm not sure if it has "officially" gone down yet....if it has, I haven't seen the numbers yet.

If we are moving Scandrick to FS, do we not remember 2 seasons ago? The lack of CB depth is the reason we drafted Jenkins, Scandrick, and traded for Pacman. Now we are going with Jenkins, Newman, and Ball? Lord I hope not... If we sign Springs then I feel much better about this decision. Hopefully Jenkins gets a heart between now and the start of the season though. I don't think I can handle another O'le

He still going to play the slot, this would get him off the bench on 1st and 2nd down.
