As OJ proved, you can get away with MURDER if you hire expensive enough lawyers.

No that provedf that the City or State prosecutor's are really bad and can jack up a slam dunk case.

Besides...oj didn't do it.....:p:

Absolutely agree!

Incentive deal with behavioral clauses and keep the plan to draft a cornerback in round 1 intact.

We'd have excellent depth with Newman, Henry, Jones, 1st round pick.

A blend of oldies (Newman and Henry) and youngies (Jones, 1st round pick, scrub 5th CB)

Perfect balance of experience, youth, talent.

Everyone seemed to get over the Tank Johnson situation soon enough.

Now, you'd have to ask around before someone could tell you what team Tank plays for.

Everyone also seems to forget the type of characters we had on the Superbowl teams in the early 90s.

They weren't exactly choir boy, but they got the job done.

w00t!

We took a gamble on Team Obliterater and it worked out.

We gambled on Tank and its worked out thus far.

Do it again!

Sign him to an incentive based contract. If he screws up, cut him. If he works out, we've got ourselves a helluva CB. I still advocate drafting a CB in round 1.
I don't deny his talent, but I'd rather go another route. I definitely want a CB in round 1 of the Draft though.

IIRC, he hasn't murdered anyone, it was someone in his "crew"! He's (if found) guilty by association, nothing else. I think in the Vegas incident they charged him w/ conspiracy b/c they considered him the instigator of the fracas.

Pacman headed to the Cowboys?
March 7, 2008 11:36 AM

During his in-studio appearance Thursday, Pacman talked about his desire to ride horses, his passion for bowling and his friendship with neighbor and country music legend George Jones.

You can just imagine George and Pacman sitting on the the Possum's front porch discussing the inspiration for "He Stopped Loving Her Today." This is a friendship that will stand the test of time.

This whole article is full of win but this is the best part by far. :lmao:

Yeah, he's screwed up repeatedly. But so have several other players throughout our history. We've continued to take chances on them before. Why not PacMan?

He is going to have to agree to an incentive based deal. Why not offer it to him? We can always cut him if it doesn't work out. Its low risk; high reward stuff.

Factor in the Newman contract situation and Henry's long-term future and I think the team needs to make a concerted effort to improve at cornerback.

I would take the chance on a low risk/high reward scenario like Jones and still use one of the first rounders on a cornerback.

To say nothing of this team's crying need for an improvement over 'Fair Catch' Crayton at punt returner.

I would place this guy at #2 on my list of punt returners behind only Hester.

I think a lot of the cleaning up of the Cowboys was more Parcells thing Jerry. Bottom line for Jerry is that he wants to win Super Bowls. If he thinks Pac Man will help him do that and he's convinced he can keep him on the field, he'll pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

Not true. Jerry Jones passed on Randy Moss way before Irvin came here, and he created a spot for Calvin Hill to oversee this problem of bad-boys way before Bill came on board.

What JJ has done is provided a mechanism to ensure that his players, even the troubled ones, become better people.

Talk about a 'WOW' off-season...

all the higher-than-thou people will express their frustrations, but when the Dallas Cowboys start winning, they'll forget about how 'evil' these guys are...

As long as it doesn't hurt the TEAM, I say give him a chance! I've never cared what athletes do off the field (as long as they can actually STAY on the field) and that hasn't changed! If he can come to Dallas and be productive then, why not?

just for the record, i would hate this move.
it is fine to have 1 or 2 'troubled' or 'challenging' people in the team and figure that the high character players on the team will set the tone and the support system will keep them in check. however, if we keep doing this, it has the potential to blow up in our face. who knows what the right balance or critical/tipping point is, but the risks go way beyond the price tag.

just my .02

If he can become Adam Jones and leave that PacMan and past behind him then I am all for it. He is talented and would be a solid addition.

I think too many people are just repeating whatever ESPN or their local radio station analysts say. The sad thing is many end up beleiving it. Jones didn't do anything that makes him as bad as people make him out to be. He has made mistakes that is for sure, but people have done worse and gotten away with it. He is Goddell's scapegoat.

Not sure what risks you are talking about?

Are you visualizing TO having a meltdown and then getting shot by Tank who was simply following the orders of Pacman?

Like some of you have stated, if he's signed to an incentive laden deal with opt out clauses based on his off-the-field behavior, I'd like to see him here. Jones is still growing as a CB, and as we know right now, he's one of the league's better return men. He's on record saying he wants to play here so I guess that may mean something.

Good one.

I got a laugh out of that one, too.

Love how the author cites Jerry taking on Spellman and Underwood... Yeah, those worked out well. :abuseme:

I don't doubt that Jerry did ask staff what they thought about it. Probably every team has done that. But that ignores that they all said it wasn't worth it.
