Really ? So Choice and Scandrick are " squat " ?

Humm.. I think the coaching staff and front office of the Cowboys need to be informed right away.

You're not understanding what actually happened. Dallas received a 4th round pick for Fasano and Ayodele. They did not get Choice and Scandrick from Miami. They got a single pick in the 4th round. Just because the team was able to move around a few more times and pick players later doesn't mean that was what they got in the trade. They got a 4th round pick.

YOu mean Bennette. Who happens to be put up better numbers in his rookie year than Fasano did in two years with the Cowboys.

As a Cowboys fan, I can only pray they keep making those types of mistakes every year.

Who cares what numbers he put up. Hes the #2 TE. Simple as that. He will never start over Witten unless Witten is hurt. As a result, hes always going to be a #2.

So let me get this straight: It's bad management to improve a position because that position does not require " a world beater " ?

Interesting philsophy.

No. Its bad management to moderately upgrade a backup player at the expense of a high draft pick. When there are other positions on the team that could use some attention, upgrading at a spot where that player will never be the #1 guy at his position is a little misguided.

Even if that pick returned two players who become key contributors to the team ? Especially when those two starters were going to be released ?

Neither of those guys were picked at #100. They were picked later. Again, Dallas got a 4th rounder for 2 starters.

And who says Fasano was going to get released? I've heard the "reports" that he was going to get nudged by Curtis but who ever said the team was going to cut him?

I really think you are confusing me saying the trade sucked with me saying the outcome sucked. Try not to confuse the two.

I'll say all day that the trade sucked because it did. However, I've never said that I would rather the team had a crappy draft and not trade Fasano.

But that doesn't change the fact that a stupid trade is a stupid trade. Its not like the whole thing was scripted out and Jerry knew what players were going to fall where. When he made the trade, the only thing he got was a 4th round pick. And then he used a 2nd rounder to fill the vacant spot of the young player he traded away.

It was just a bad trade.

The issue is that I would not have slated him for imminent release.

Ayodele was not a world beater, but in retrospect was he was so much worse than what we replaced him with in Zach Thomas? Last we saw of him, he was taking a poor angle on McLain that allowed for the deciding score against Baltimore.

What is amazing about these trades to Miami is that everyone who took over for them in Dallas is gone or will be gone. Meanwhile, they are effective starters.

Tony Curtis was supposed to be so much better than Fasano. It is a toss up if he makes the team again.

Zach Thomas was supposed to be this great upgrade to Ayodele. He wasn't and probably won't return.

Tank Johnson was a liability at times and ended up being poisonous on the field in Philadelphia. He will be gone.

You can second guess this both ways. Certainly money was an issue with both Ferguson and Ayodele. But who was responsible for those lopsided contracts? That's right, the same GM who felt compelled to cut losses with them several years later in what amounted to a fire sale and the Dolphins all got bargains and players who are starting and who BTW also made the playoffs while we sat at home.

All of this spin and rationalization does not speak to how the situation was not a win or even a wash. I am sure Coach Parcells and Sparano appreciated the favors.

Man how you gonna blame Jerry for the Zach Thomas thing? I'm willing to bet that you along with 95 percent of the other Cowboy fans agreed with the signing as well. Now all of a sudden its Jerrys fault that Zach wasn't the great leader that everybody expected of him. BS, Jerry is one of the last people i will blame for this teams cowardly winter act.
