Well I don't think he's got a mean bone in his body. Not necessary. It's mental.

There have been plenty of guys that played the game that weren't mean. John Lynch, for one, was one of the nicest fellows to strap on a helmet and set of pads. He also was, unfortunately for receivers, one of the hardest hitters of our era.
