You could not ask for a better quality person than Pat White. Really is a class act guy. But I think the 2nd round would be too high for him.

Love the kid.

I'll :puke:

This is pure smokescreen.

Even if the team wanted to do this, which I seriously doubt, you wouldn't come out and announce it to the world this way. Not even Jerry does that.

And if RJ wouldn't run the wildcat last year when Brad Johnson was singlehandedly killing us and we already had Stanback on the roster, I don't see us doing it next year.

Like when he said we needed a RB and CB last year?

The heck with the Wildcat.

I want to Leonard Bigg Davis take the direct snap and QB draw.

Watch out, Andre, watch out!

Yep. I love me some Pat White too. He's no Quincy that's for sure. Stand up guy... I wouldn't mind grabbing him in the latter rounds if we can pull of some magic. I think he has a good career ahead of him in the league. (at QB or WR) The guy is talented.

Oh please don't let Jones get all hot and bothered for this player like he did with Quincy Carter. I don't think I can take that again.

Ill give Jerry the benefit of doubt on any player we draft based on recent history.

forget the wildcat and go straight to the option

I'm serious, that would be pretty sick

Have you seen Georgia Tech's triple option? It's sick. Obviously it doesn't belong on the pro level but it's sick to watch in action.

ESPN's Mel Kiper says he "keeps hearing New England" in discussions about West Virginia QB Pat White.

Kiper suggests that the Patriots will give White a long look in round two. White recently worked out for New England as a wide receiver and quarterback.

I'm sure if the Pats pull the trigger on this it'll be looked at as a brilliant move. Jerry does it and it's a bonehead play.

yeah, I've watched it a bunch attending Navy games when Paul Johnson coached here, they still run it, it's a beauty, esp. watching Georgia Tech run it, as they have better athletes

He is no Tim Tebow.

But Tebow is no James Casey. Casey would be an ideal Wildcat QB, FB, STer, and emergency TE on the team.

I'm a Nebraska fan and I was hoping against hope that they'd hire Paul Johnson last year. Love me some triple option! And I expect it to make a comeback at some point.

Why can't we find coaches that are innovative.. Seems like we are always trying to catch up with the rest of the league...

It does no good to worry about coaches being innovative, and whether ours were the "first" to think of a certain thing.

There is nothing new in football. It's all rehashed old ideas, fit to personnel and other factors. Sparano and Co. didn't invent the Wildcat, they just found good ways to use it with their personnel. Maybe we can find some way to exploit Gurode's inability to snap the ball correctly.

fake snap? oh wait

I think Pat white in the third would be worthy of this prepostiton, but he won't last long enough. Pat White also does not have to come in as a QB, he has worked with the broncos and Pats as a WO. With him and felix on the field at the same time it would be dangerous.

'Tis true.

In fact, there's an article floating around somewhere with Belichick talking about how the Wildcat and these recent spread offenses are really just reincarnations of the single wing, which was run a century ago.

Since no one took my Stephen McGee comment seriously, I'm bringing it up again.

Of course Pat White is the obvious choice for a "Wildcat" QB, but I think that McGee fits the bill as well. He's tough, mobile, has great acceleration, an underrated arm and is a player who's known for his leadership on the field. If you want a player who can actually develop into a real QB, not just a gimmick guy like White, then I think McGee makes a lot of sense. He'd have time to develop as a passer and he'd still be able to contribute in some fancy schmancy packages.
