If we cut him, which is what he wants, he gets to keep his signing bonus. Boys
are just waiting patiently because they have him over a barrel... That's as far as the
money goes.

I know Jerry doesn't want to cut him because of the money... But how do we have him over a barrel? If anything it's just the reverse. He'll just do the minimum work, go through the motions, and collect a check all year if we don't do anything about it.

This is false-information season. Everyone is in the best shape of their life. Every scheme change has players primed for the best year of their career. Make no mistake about it, if Romo goes down then the combination of a disinterested Kyle Orton and a mediocre Brandon Weeden isn't getting us anywhere.

We aren't going anywhere anyway.. lol. We haven't gone anywhere in a long time. Last time a backup played, he did better than our starter.

I'm very happy that Weeden is our backup QB. He isn't great but he is better than what most teams have at backup.

Exactly. The talent is definitely there. I think he just needed to get used to the speed of the game after being thrown to the wolves from the get-go.

In 7 of 8 seasons Romo has started 10 or more games, and in every one of those seasons we've either made the playoffs or been in a win-and-in scenario. I'm not saying the results have been acceptable, or that it is a measure of success, but it is at least something to keep you somewhat entertained. Orton and Weeden are not going to give you that level of play.

As for the backup playing better than our starter, I know you are smart enough to know the difference of a divisional game on the road versus a divisional game at home, so I'll leave it at that.

That is pretty much the case. Even if he stays out of training camp, he can just pay the fines and that would never get close to what he would have to fork back in salary.

I know there are some things being floated out there by Stephen Jones that there is a similarity to the situation with Beasley, where he had personal issues. So we will have to see.

If it is actually a little more tense than that and this is a blinking contest, I am almost certain the Joneses blink first.

There's no doubt.

And I can't believe we're going along with it. He should be cut immediately.

Don't we take a cap hit if we cut him and and isn't that what he wants? It feels like Ratliff all over again. I think we really want him to retire.

I think with Orton it's more the cap than the money. Every little bit of cap space helps

We will take a hit for cutting him. I am sure the team wants him back first, and if not that, for him to voluntarily retire. I do not see any reason why Orton would do that unless he really has some issues nobody is aware of. Who in their right mind would buy their own right to retire for three million dollars?

Well, that's what Jerry gets for signing guys to longer contracts. Orton found out how to play Jerry from the
Rat fiasco last year. The clipboard carriers are naturally lazy bums that can't play for other teams.
We need to be more like New England and get a new backup every year. Besides, if Romo goes down we
are done anyway.

Yes, I have been somewhat entertained....but I want a playoff team. I was talking about Kitna back in 2010. There was no fall off with Kita QB'ed. I think the it was the same with Orton in that win and in game.

Oops. I oiled him up as soon as I read that Witten quote. Was that wrong?

No backup will, we are too reliant on Romo being elite.

Unless there's something significant to this story that hasn't been reported yet, I doubt Orton's motivation is any worse than it's been at any point in Dallas.

We want him for insurance, and have the leverage here and an option we want to take a look at behind him. Don't see the trouble, honestly.

Wait until the bullet start flying before anointing Weeden. He has always been considered chalkboard smart, mature and has the arm talent. It is his behavior in games when pressured that drove him out of Cleveland.

He may be a complete bum! But no QB since Bernie Kosar has done anything in that city, so I will at least allow him a wait and see before I crush him..

I don't think this is Cleveland and our OL is looking near impregnable if they stay healthy.

I saw him in several games last year and he moved that team well..

and yes..

like Romo he sometimes forces a pass and it gets picked.

But I was excited when he got signed and given Romo and Orton's uncertainties..

I'll take him.

best backup guy we've had in years.

Can't wait to see him in preseason.

LOL, Weeden "impressing" Witten and Linehan, eh? I'd bet this was just a standard nice guy answer when asked by the reporter about how Weeden is doing. They sure weren't going to say, " Well he sucks, but with Orton wanting to retire and Romo still tender, we got to roll with this loser for now."

Weeden will get plenty of opportunities in preseason to impress us all. Not holding my breath.
