weeden is a decent qb. he is a pure pocket passer so the key is protecting him. if he can stay in the pocket he can do a decent job as a backup. if he is pressured and has to roll out he has little accuracy. hopefully we don't need a backup this year but if we do the key is keeping the pocket clean and he will do as well as most backups

I don't think this is Cleveland and our OL is looking near impregnable if they stay healthy.

I saw him in several games last year and he moved that team well..

and yes..

like Romo he sometimes forces a pass and it gets picked.

But I was excited when he got signed and given Romo and Orton's uncertainties..

I'll take him.

best backup guy we've had in years.

Can't wait to see him in preseason.

I hope Martin is that much of a difference maker because they were not very good up the middle protecting the QB at all.

If Weeden had played behind Leary Fred Bernadeau then he would have been hit more than Romo was and Romo ended up out for the season and had to have back surgery. Our tackles were pretty good but even at the end of the year we gave up tons of hits to blitzes, stunts, zone dogs and the like. Quite frankly we sucked at it.

I don't think you'll find one person anointing Weeden. lol

I've seen two reports that he's doing well running the plays from inside the pocket, notsomuch when asked to be on the move. He loses a ton of accuracy when doing that.

*Quitely stashes the "used" anointing oil beneath the couch cushions*

If he wasn't a Cowboy I think most would be saying he was a scrub. But he is so ok.

I just hope Romo stays healthy because I don't want this guy toting anything heavier than a clipboard.

Isn't it funny how that works?

Half the fans on here thinks he's a scrub...and the other half chooses to hope he's not. And half of the hopeful half believes it's just a good investment even if they cut him after TC.

When a guy does well in OTAs.... "DNA ANNOINT HIM!"

When a guy does poorly in OTAs.... "CUT HIM HE IS A BUM!"

You guys are silly.

Still can't believe Cleveland wasted a 1st rounder on a 28 year old QB. Almost as bad as wasting a 1st rounder on Johnny Manziel.

Weeden isn't the best Starting QB to walk the Earth .. but he is one of the best backups in the NFL.

Again, what the hell do you expect them to say? Of course they're going to sing his praises.

There is more than just yes and no. Binary thinking is so limiting as to be laughable.

For example, they could have said nothing or hedged their comments, they could have changed the subject or they could even been critical.

Quite frankly if the team cannot say anything to make you happy, there does not seem much point in being around during this part of the year. That is unless your interest is in wallowing in failure, expecting it, and encouraging people to feel the same way..

Solitude compounds misery so of course it wants company.

Playing out the pocket is not Weeden game. He is a pocket passer, th same with Eli, Manning, and Brady.
