Gabr Carimi

To me Camiri is a solid career right tackle. I don't think he has the feet and/or the wingspan to be an elite left tackle in the NFL.

This.

Carimi had a pretty good year at LT against some top flight prospects (Clayborn, Heyward). That's improved his stock.

However, I think he's a guy you could plug in at RT for the next 10 years and forget about. He'd struggled at times at LT, I think.

#9 is probably too high for a RT or for Carimi. It wouldn't be bad if Dallas could move down a few spots, pick up an additional pick and then grab Carimi.

I'm drooling over the thought of.........

1) Gabe Carimi RT

2) Mike Pouncey RG

3) John Moffitt LG

That's pretty attainable without reaching.

Don't worry bout the OL except for starting C for 8-10 years.

I know we are horrible on D but giving Romo, Witten, Dez, Miles, Felix a top 5 OL for years to come fires me up.

My only counter argument would be that there are some interesting young guard prospects in free agency this year. If you wanted to shop for solid, mid level free agent signings, guard would be a good position to do that this year.

Not many great safeties, DL or linebackers.

Yes!

Quality depth too. If we're going to be a more physical team in practice + 18 game schedules we're going to need more guys.

Plus with 18 games I think running the football may come back into trend since its the easiest way to attack any defense.

We need to focus all offseason on pounding the rock. Romo and all of his weapons will take care of themself.

I think as of today you're right. But I got a feeling when the draft comes around we'll have to pull the trigger and based on everything i've seen im ok with that.

My counter to that is the D is the result of poor coaching for the most part and reluctance to play young players.

This D was 2 and then mailed it in. That's on Wade.

Lee should have taken over for Brooking early.

We've been drafting D for a decade.

I don't see the point again.....for what?

If we go D in 2 and 3 they won't see the field much anyways for a year or 2.

That's how we roll.

The only D player that has a shot at seeing a ton of playing time is a DE if we let Spears walk.

As if a 3-4 DE is going to have a huge impact in moving us from 31st to top 10.

Sign Champ Bailey to play FS. Fill some other holes in D in FA or 4-7.

Fix the OL once and for all with young behemoths and be done with it for 10 years.

If we can get an OT, right or left, that we could plug in for 10 years or so and not have to worry about, i'll take him with the number 9 pick in a second.

I have been impressed every game I have seen him play in. He is excellent at both run blocking and pass blocking. This teammate Moffitt has also been impressive. If Dallas could get a trade to swap 1st rd picks and get an additional 2nd rd pick I would love to get Gabe Carimi

Another thing I like about Carimi is his feet never stop moving.

It's good to see a young player who gets that. Had Sam Young not had dead feet in College I wonder how much higher he would've gone.

In saying all this, you say we have failed at drafting D, why not draft O.....well it doesn't work that way sometimes, the O picks can fail just as much as the D picks can.

We gave up the 2nd most points in the league. Sure the OL has issues, but not as many as the D. Guess we don't realize how bad Columbo was, give me one linemen to replace him and I don't see the use of overdrafting linemen.

Just hold off on that one for now.

I agree with what you're saying though. I just think it's premature.

Well, I don't have a problem with getting the OL, but at some point it is overkill especially when we have so many other holes on this team.

I think Dallas has to hit on 2 OL players be it in FA or the draft. Koiser is a FA, Colombo is looking lost and Davis contract will be very costly this season.

Well I do agree, Colombo has to go, no question. Koiser needs to be resigned, and we might be stuck with Davis unless we can get Mankins. You are asking alot to expect 2 rookies to start and do well on our OL next year, they can be busts too.....then where are we. Same spot we are in right now.

I said we had to hit on 2 OL players be it in FA or the draft not just the draft. I'm not opposed to taking more than 1 lineman in the draft and would like 1 of those picks to be a guy who could start soon. I understand the need to upgrade other areas but I don't think this team can continue to not address a line that is getting up in age and has not produced.

Then we basically agree but were saying it differently and I understand the need of an OL of course.

I think a quality oline will give us better ball control and better ball control will help the entire team.

We've tried drafting skill players and still have no championships.

I think it's time to change our philosophy some and go oline and dline heavy.

I think Detroit finally subscribes to this theory. I think they'll pick a guy like Dareus this year.

Dominate the line of scrimmage and get yourself a QB and you can do a lot in the NFL with unknowns at the skill positions. Ask New England.

Yeah I think O and D line will be even more important if we go to 18 games.

We may even start to see O linemen getting rotated during games.

I don't think its a change of philosophy to go dline, JJ has done that before. But going OL with our first two picks like u said earlier, would be a total change of philosophy that I just don't see happening without a major trade down.

If we stay at 9, dline then oline in the second is very easy to see happening cause thats where the talent is right now.....but of course things will change some later. Taking dline in a 3-4 that early is kinda a stretch though, unless the guy is real special or you count OLB in a 3-4 as a dlinemen.

If we go OL, which we will, I would like to see Stefan Wisniewski in the second round. We have such problems developing OL and I think part of the reason is we can't identify the guys who have the heart for football. Jacob Rogers comes to mind. That kid just didn't have the heart for the game. Wisniewski is a third-generation football player and his dad was a great G. His kid will play at a Pro Bowl level for 10 years.
