GAC: Garrett in for second Interview

This is sounding serious.

I'm wondering if Parcells gave Jerry the "Thumbs Up" and now Jerry is in the negotiating meeting with Garrett?

If it comes to fruition that Parcells apporved, then this may be a good move..... or a bad move, depending on your thoughts of Parcells.

w/ Parcells' eye for coaching talent, it's a very good move if he seriously recommends Garrett

BP recruited Sean Peyton when the world didn't think he was that hot. Maybe he is a good judge of a coach.

He prolly went to go watch the Senior Bowl practices on tv.

See if there wasnt some LB who's smart but not big enough to make it at this level.

A guy who Jerry could sign later tonight to be defensive coordinator.

Funniest post I've read in a while!

I think all you naysayers are going to be pleasantly surprised.
J.G. is a brilliant kid.

I agree I think it's a good move

It should be interesting to see the reaction, to say the least.

I believe Garrett could do a fine job. He is sharp.

Jones probably said "meet my new coach" and Bill had to go puke.

:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

I can't stop laughing over this post...

and yet I am not laughing about Garrett as HC.

I wouldnt mind him as an OC, but he is to green to be a HC IMO

Jerry interviewed Todd Bowles.

I was under the impression that the Rooney Rule implied that the minority candidate must be from outside the organization but I may be wrong.

I thought red heads and 3-4 DCs were a minority :D

No doubt.

This is serious business and they suddenly end up talking about guys who would be total reaches as HC's instead. Lame.

lmao.....I miss Parcells.

Bad.

It's gonna get worse if we hire a ginger kid to be the head coach. Although I guess that's a sweet minority hire.

The rule pretty much is that any minority interviewed covers it.

well...if its true, hope it works out for the best...

but I just cant believe somebody would entrust the entire team to a 40yr old assistant coach who's nevr put a game plan together or called a play...I know Garrett is probably real bright and may be an up and comer, but this seems a little fast

I was really hoping Norv Turner, Wade Wilson or even Dan Reeves would at least be to tudor Garrett a little more

will be really interesting to see how this plays out

David

How old was Gruden when he won the superbowl? Just Curious.

I am thinking the same thing. Parcells has an eye for coaching and player talent. If Parcells put his stamp of approval on it, then there must be something there. Especially since the club has already gotten approval to interview Wade Phillips.

Maybe Parcells is sticking around as a consultant . . . Sort of like what Dan Reeves did in Houston . . .

Would love to believe that BP has some input into the decision.

He may not have the "energy" to Coach anymore, but you can't deny the man's football knowledge and experience.

In theory he had set little Bill up as the next HC of the jets...until BB bailed.

I can only hope we do as well with our next HC.

I think it goes deeper than that. I don't think Bill is going anywhere. I bet he stays here in some sort of front office capacity.

Think about it. He would have paid Parcells 5 million anyway. He pays Jason Garrett 2-3 million a year. Heck he would have had to pay either Cowher or Fischer 7-8 million a year anyway. Plus you get a young innovative coach.

If Bill sticks around, this would be a great move.

I don't know, there was some discussions when Shell went to the Raiders and was no longer available for the token interview that the spirit of the rule was that the minority candidate must be a legitimate candidate already in football in some aspect or retired from football (no calling in some guy off the street) and couldn't currently be a member of the organization i.e. someone who couldn't say no for fear of job loss.

Hopefully that's what happens. If not, give me Rivera, although that seems less likely than yesterday.
