I was wondering the same thing...I just cant believe Jerry would hire JC as the HC right now...maybe 2-3 yrs from now or something...but this seems early

he cant interview Rivera, but he could easily call him on his cell and "hey Ron, lets talk when the Super Bowl is done, in the mean time lets throw some names around of people you might like"...one of them could be Garrett...he could get a concensus approval on Garrett, hire him...then move forward with HC later

David
Let's hope this is true.

A second stringer for two years as well, a winning record as a starter, played on four super bowl teams in his career, coaching experience, dynasty experience, princeton academic background.

I don't doubt he can do it even if he isn't my first choice.

Methinks the bolded is clouding some people's judgement.

I thought he could talk to Rivera now? I thought they made a rule allowing it.

it was the week the Bears were off I think

This would be weird.

It would be diff if it was for an NBA HC gig. All those guys haveta know is the handshake and their way around airports.

This job is a little bigger than that.

I would count it an attribute to know what one looks like and operates like and presumably would seek to mimic the success of those systems.

Gosselin thinks it is very serious, says Jerry has tried everything else. Jerry may try the new trend. Tomlin was a coordinator for only one year, Andy Reid and Herm were never coordinators.

Gosselin says that Garrett could have been an OC the day he retired from the NFL.

So he thinks it may happen...............

I'd rather have a Young Garrett with new ideas over some retred coach like Reaves or Phillips

people questioned the Saints hiring Sean P and look what happened. Young ideas is the way of the league

It's not hard to have one year of success in today's NFL. Let's see how Mr. Payton over a five-year span before "anointing" him the next great football coach.

I guess it'd be a huge surprise...but it would make things very interesting wouldnt it?

Lovie Smith still has the jury out for him then as well, even Jim Fassel led a team to the Super Bowl and had a couple of winning seasons.

Agreed. The Saints had allot behind them this season also. I do wish him well though.

finally had to turn those fools off...not much being said about the Garrett stuff...they were throwing around Mike Martz and Norv's names

They won't sneak up on anyone next year. They'll be lucky to be 10-6.

lets hope he is the next andy reid or mike holmgren.

Jerry loves al davis, maybe he is trying to one up him with another young qb coach.

Well Garrett is 40 years old so he's not going to be younger than Kiffen.

No doubt.

This is serious business and they suddenly end up talking about guys who would be total reaches as HC's instead. Lame.
