Gadhafi captured, says military council on Libyan TV
By the CNN Wire Staff
October 20, 2011 -- Updated 1149 GMT (1949 HKT)

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) -- Revolutionary fighters have captured deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, Libyan television said Thursday, citing the Misrata Military Council.
That report, however, could not be independently confirmed.
Horns blared and celebratory gunfire burst into the air in Tripoli.
"It's a great victory for the Libyan people," said Libyan Information Minister Mahmoud Shammam.
Gadhafi ruled Libya with an iron fist for 42 years. The mercurial leader came to power in a bloodless coup against King Idris in 1969, when he was just an army captain.

They say they captured "a big fish", but nobody has confirmed who from what I've heard.

Conflicting reports coming out right now ...... and nobody we trust has confirmed anything.

Foxnews says he is dead.

Sorry. I don't trust anything that FOX news says.

I sure hope the the shareholders are able to oust Rupert Murdoch. That guy is straight taint.

They now said they have his body. That he was alive when they took him. He was in a car fleeing and was already heavily injured. They said he died from those injuries shortly after. (probably murdered, but we probably will never know for sure)

They say Al Jazeera televised pictures of his body.

The Houston Chronicle blog has a picture of the body. Definitely looks like him. I won't post the link because it's graphic, but if you Google "Qaddafi body" it appears on top (with a small pic of him)

We will never know where these all went to. Once this operation was under way, no one had the forethought to try to deal with that. It was a poorly planned operation at best.

ABC news is also reporting that the rebels claim he is dead.

I don't believe anything ABC News says.

I know! How stupid am I? :laugh2:

Didn't they lose like 20,000 SAM rockets in Libya that are now located throughout the border regions?

Some would put Castro and Chavez on that list.

Nah.

They don't pose a threat to the US, IMO. Sure they probably hate our guts but I doubt they areactively supporting terrorists and plotting attacks against the US and Europe.

Kim Jong Il definitely needs to be the next to catch a sniper's bullet to the head.

You can go to Al Jazeera's website....video on there of his body.

Good riddance

I am shocked that he stayed inside Libya as long as he did. He never struck me as one who would fight to the end. I always saw him as a terrorist/behind your back type of cowardly leader.

Those types usually beg for exile and fly off into some Tansanian sunset to live out thier lives in stolen luxury and virgins.

BTW: How ugly can one person get?

G was monsterously ugg-O-LEE
