is anyone else surprised by Gallup’s drops this year. Didn’t catch the drag route vs Carolina, had a TWill type drop yesterday resulting in a pick and vs NYG I’ve heard 50-50 between his route or Daks throw on the deep ball that was incomplete.

He’s a rookie, but hopefully his hands get a little better. Need any spark we can get

The deep ball was absolutely a drop.

The guy's a 3rd-round rookie and any idea that he was every going to be a 60-catch something or other in this offense was always misguided. The idea that he was going to come in and replace Dez was even sillier.

The bigger question is why the heck so many were excited about him. Rookie WRs rarely make an impact, let alone guys selected after day 1.

They were anxious to be "right" about the release of another receiver that they overcompensated by gassing up Gallup. He looks like just another guy out there, not like other rookie WRs that have flashed.

Early in the season rookie WRs really find out what playing in the NFL is like. They are facing defenses schemed to stop the offense and running routes against players that are paid to put you on your butt. Neither of which do they really see in OTAs, practices or in the preseason. I like Gallup's potential which is all I can really say at this point.

He’s probably got a bit of the yips. He sure looked like he could play in preseason.

Lots of WRs come out outside of the first round and have an impact. He’ll be ok once he gets his confidence rolling.

He looked okay early but he had some bad drops towards the end of preseason that had me concerned. I almost started a thread about it then but it's carried over into regular season now. Somebody has to emerge in that group.

Simple. In practice Dak knows he isn't going to get hit so he throws a decent ball. In the game, the receivers quickly realize they have no idea if the ball is going to be thrown or where it will be located

There's also the issue of shuffling the WR line up way too often in games, and the QB who throws you a bone every 30 snaps. You can't get in any kind of rhythm or expect a well placed football at present. They need to leave him out there and live through his mistakes right now.

He's a good one, he just needs some more opportunities. The INT was unlucky yesterday, but yes he should have caught it.

Guess Sanjay isn’t quite the “WR Whisperer” many here thought he was...

Sanjay special.

Hopefully, he's just in the phase that most rookie receivers go through. Struggling/meh first year and then the light bulb goes off year 2 and on.
I agree here. I think he is in that malaise phase. But we need him to snap out of it around mid season. Not next year.

Meanwhile, Calvin Ridley is setting the league on fire.

DJ Moore might only have two career catches, but at least one of them was a touchdown.

He needs to make some plays to get some confidence and some trust between he and Dak.

Calvin Ridley.

I thought Ridley was getting the pre-draft treatment that Bosa got in 2016. The over exposure meant hyper and undeserved criticism
The guy looked like Antonio Brown 2.0 coming out...or at least ball park

In truth though, a ton of rookies are doing well this year. I think 7-8 of them already have a TD.
Very deep class.

That IS unusual though

fwiw, I think Gallup will be ok
