So You can gamble on other sports, but not on team or league premises?

Is there a reason for this?

I still don't see anything wrong with betting on your team to win or another team that has nothing to do with your current matchup.
Or another sport entirely. I agree. But it doesn't have to make sense, it just has to be practical. How do you enforce, or keep track of every bet from every player? Wouldn't it be easier just to say, no gambling on sports?

They just can’t allow professional athletes to legally gamble on sporting events . It’s a fine line the leagues must balance and closely watch to uphold the integrity of the games .

And if you’re a player you’ll have to wait a few years until your career is over . Is that really asking too much?
The NFL has no business acting like its got any integrity. IF they were so against gambling they would never talk about the Line; or give it so much notice.
IF they were serious about gambling they WOULD NOT PUT A TEAM IN LAS VEGAS.
So any talk about integrity is total complete garbage. As long as the players are not betting on the NFL in any way, the league has no moral right to say squat.

True, but there are means for monitoring it. Brokerage companies require employees to maintain accounts and specific firms and forward statement copies. Could easily do something with gambling. But I get it that they don't want to deal with it.

Wonder how often commonly available sports betting apps like DraftKings, FanDuel, etc., on player's cell phones create opportunities for them getting caught gambling?

Damn some of these players are dumb. Why not just get a family member to bet for you?

They are serious about keeping games from being fixed.

Ohhhh, now I get why the NFL is being so aggressive. They want gambling out of the locker room culture. That will take a loooooonnnnng time. We gambled in HS for crying out loud, can't imagine how bad pros are about it.

No Gilbert Arenas situations on top of the preventing players from swaying NFL games.

I agree ..........like asking a prostitute not to have sex in a house filled with men (lol). I understand the integrity of the game but just seems suspending players as first-time offenders is a bit harsh. Why not a take couple of years, and hire some GA experts to speak of each team players. This way you are not relying upon teams to have some person (s) talking to players that have little or no expertise. Even then, I would only fine players for the first offense, X number of games for the second offense, and indefinite after the third.

Goodell, "We are disheartened to learn about these players betting on games and will have to enforce strict punishments to prevent this from happening again. Also, exciting news for our fans, new members can win $150 Bonus cash right now if you create a DraftKings account with the promo code NFLPlayerbets."

The NFL isn’t against gambling except for the players and those involved with the NFL.

Talking about the line is all part of the landscape in America with Sports Betting available legal Nationwide now and why having a team in Vegas makes no difference with access everywhere .

It just makes it more difficult to monitor players, coaches and those involved with the team. And why it’s critical to maintain the integrity. Which it appears you have misunderstood my viewpoint.
