Gameplan to win

Offense needs to find their run game. No 3rd and long. Stopping the run is obvious, but the DBs need a good game.

1. Most importantly, Dak must avoid his typical slow, flat, and sloppy starts to games. We cannot wait until the second half to get going.

2. Don’t commit stupid penalties. No free first downs out there for the Eagles, and no drive killing, self inflicted wounds

3. Fly to the ball and gang tackle. Stay fundamentally sound up front and make Barkley physically hate life

4. Stop the run without crowding the box. Read, react, hit.

5. Win the special teams phase. Big returns, disciplined coverage units, consistent excellence on any FG tries, and field position controlling punts.

6. Manage the game as a coaching staff. Don’t waste TOs. Control TOP. Win some challenges

7. Tackle effectively across the board. Every position must commit to wrapping up and helping

8. Keep it close. The longer we are within a score, the more our confidence grows and the more they start to feel pressure

9. Take the momentum away whenever possible.

10. Even better and mission critical , take the ball away and don’t give the ball away

As mentioned, we have to find a way to run the ball and stick with it. The biggest factor is turnovers. We need to hope the Eagles commit a few while we do not.

I agree with the OP re the run game. Would like to see 12 personnel, with BSF and Ferg providing extra blocking for the RB. This is one of the most athletic and dangerous D lines we will face before the bye week.

Bill Parcells used to say there is a path to win every game you just have to find it.

What do you guy think the path is to beating Philly.

To me I think a Bill Parcellls special is needed.

I know our strength is our wideouts & QB but to me Dallas needs to run the ball early & often & control the clock.

Try to keep this game close until the 4th quarter.

If we come out trying to go toe to toe with this team we will get ran off the field. We’re walking into a hornet nest against the Super Bowl champions on opening night.
Normally I'd applaud this plan, because having Dak hand off vs having Dak drop back is always a good thing... but we have no RBs and our oLine isn't physical. Our best players are WRs.

So as terrifying as it sounds, the offense was built to flow through the WRs (and hence Dak, gulp), so you better use your best weapons.

If ur just going to hand the ball to the worst RBs in the league behind our non physical oLine, might as well punt on 2nd or 3rd down

Bill Parcells notion that you can beat ANY team with the right plan sounds good in theory, but it's not realistic. It's just something you say to a team you know stands little chance of winning.

A more realistic statement comes from Mike Tyson: Everyone has a plan...until I punch them in the face.

Did New England have a plan when they faced Chicago in the SuperBowl in 1985? Did the Bills have a cute little plan when they played us in the SuperBowl?

Offense: they will expect us to establish the run. Show run but pass and put the early game on CD and Pickens. Score early then run once they back off.

Defense: stop the run. Challenge secondary to stop the pass without additional help

I get the running the ball thing. I believe that’s true.

But who’s going to “pound the rock” for us Thursday night? I can’t see Javonte Williams and his 3.7 yds per carry or mini-scat back Jaydon Blue as capable of doing that.

It’s one thing to have a plan. But you need the horses to carry it out. Not convinced we do. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong Thursday night.
Another question is, who will get the Double Team in the pass rush that is usually reserved for Parsons?

:thumbdown:No way in hell our D will win that battle
In the 4th period, when both teams start getting tired.......which team has the best talent to be standing at the end
I don't know if we have a viable quarterback for a shoot out anymore. The 2023 version, maybe, the 2024 version could only put 6 points on the board deep into the third quarter in what some on here were saying was his best game.

I see a lot of people saying “run the ball”. It sounds nice but is it realistic ? no. Dallas has had no run game for 3 seasons now.

Our most realistic chance is a shootout.
Dak -Lamb-Pickens-Ferguson.
Their secondary is overrated and they lost some key pieces.
My thoughts too.

Our run game is not going to win the game.

Baptism by fire. We will sneak up on them and they will never see it coming in Philly. This Thursday will not end well for the Eagles. Run the dang ball effectively to set up play action and open up the passing game. Protect Dak and get receivers open and hit them. No meat needs left on the bone. The Cowboys have no chance by many, many people. But they do.

Most NFL RBs will produce with volume.

If our line blocks well they’ll do more than produce with volume.

They have a new OC every year. If a new OC is a negative, what is a new OC, a new DC, and a new head coach. Their new OC has been on their coaching staff for years. I guess that still counts as new, sort of.

Run the ball and minimize the amount of time the Eagles offense even gets on the field. But if it’s all about stopping Barkley don’t forget about Hurts. Hurts is younger and nearly as fast as Barkley. And he gets the ball on every play.
Dallas needs to be able to run the ball stop the run and keep Hurts in the pocket , and make Hurts beat you with his arm. I would put a spy on Hurts maybe Shemar James, keep Hurts from beating you with his legs.Dominate the trenches and play smash mouth football. DALLAS 38 EAGLES 24.

In the first half we should go Nascar on them, Blue, Turpin, CD, Pickens and Ferg.

Quick passes to Turp and Blue, setting up CD and the rest down the middle.

Play hurry up offense since the starters won't be in 100% football shape.

Try to put up as many points as we can in the first half, 90s style.

Defense has to run blitz and sell out to slow down Barkley in the half.

If we can do that...a big if...just like I said before 90s style our secret 2nd half weapon will be unleashed.

Our newly extended RB Hunter will pound away in the 2nd half and dominate the clock. You'll see why he was extended. It will remind you of Mike Alscott.

If we have a lead at halftime and Barkley was contained you will see their new OC panic and have Hurts try to throw the ball to catch up.

EZ and Williams will then destroy Hurts.

Diggs and Bland each get a pick, which one will bring it to the house?

Protect the ball, eat clock, score any kind of points every time you get the ball back. By any means.

Hurts 40 time was two tenths of a second slower...that is fairly significant.

I really didn't say the new OC was a negative....I clearly said that they are returning pretty much the entire offense. For Dallas, the OC and DC from a year ago weren't very effective.....so something new is at least something different.
