Many of you are calling for Garrett's head on a stick. I'm not defending him. I'm not even sure he is the right man for the job. I am sick and tired about hearing his "process" ******** like many other posters on the website. But those of you calling for his head should take a step back and be realistic just for a second. We could do worse......

In fact we have done worse. Think Chan Gailey. Think "The Mad Poodle" Dave Campo. Many would argue Garrett would be an upgrade over Barry Switzer (But Barry Switzer had a much better feel for when to take a risk than any other Cowboys Coach not named Landry or Johnson.)

Fire Garrett, and find the next Jimmy Johnson? That could happen. But would the smart money be on the fact that the next coach would be more like Jimmy Johnson, or Dave Campo? Be honest with yourself. If you really think Jerry Jones and Company suck as bad as a GM as you think he is what makes you think he is going to hire a better coach than Garrett.

This isn't really my position on the matter .... to the Cowboys' detractors ... I'm just sayin'......

So your position is to stick with a known failure?

And by the way, what was Gailey's record compared to Garrett's?

I think you're a bit off-base.

The difference between Gailey/Campo and Red is that those teams had absolutely 0 talent on the offensive side of the football, and never had serious playmakers on defense.

Gailey actually took Dallas to the playoffs both years he was HC, JG has still hasn't done it.

Sorry but Garrett's been worse than any of them. Campo had nobody on his team and despite 5 wins, the team was competitive. Barry did win a SB. Yes it was Jimmy's team but he did win one. Gailey took 2 aging teams to the playoffs. Garrett has had plenty of chances to win here. The NFC East has been horrible this year and he still can't get us to the playoffs. I think we would have lost whether Romo played or not.

I was a big time Garrett supporter, but that has eroded away now. I liked the RKG senario - but I have always hated the "process". For me his downfall is the learning on the job, and the many mistakes he has made as he does infact learn his craft. Playcalling, ice his own kicker, always saying we will watch the film and get that corrected (insert running the ball), then go out and do the same thing the followeing week ! Followed by the same speach !! Im sure in another few years - he may be a compatent head coach, but are we going to wait and waste the few remaining years of this group of players while he gets there ? Isn't it already too late ?
And I do hate his smug, I'm an Ivy leaguer I know better than any of you reporters -press conferances. I thought he was gonna be another Shawn Patton - and he might eventually get there, but not with this franchise, and not any time soon !

Gailey had far better results than Garrett and Campo had probably the worst teams in this franchises history so Garrett in my book is the worst coach to ever lead this franchise although he could change that a bit this Sunday.

Most would have fired Landry after 5 years. I say extend Garrett and let him continue.

He's an average to below-average coach. For the richest, most marquee team in all of American sports, that's a failure.

Average compared to who? And your magical references to marquee teams makes you look like a deluded fan living in the 90s, the kind of fan who is a laughingstock. You're not a magical fan, and this is not a magical team.

You can not compare Landry and Garrett. They are from 2 different eras. Landry didn't even have an NFL draft and Landry was a well respected Defensive Coach before he came to Dallas. Those Cowboys were awful. Garrett came in with a franchise QB and many other good players a season after the team had just won a playoff game. Before that season, many considered Dallas a SB favorite. Teams frequently go from bad to good in one year anymore. I know it's a process but how many 8-8 seasons do we have to go through?

It's possible that we could do worse, but that does not excuse his consistent miscues in game management.

Fear of failing with another coach is not an excuse for sticking with a failing HC.

Now if you were to say that you believe in what he's doing and can see where the process is going, then that would be a good reason to stick up for ol' Red. But it just doesn't seem like that's the case for you, OP.

When garrett first took over for wade I thought we had something. He seems to have regressed some, maybe jerry has reeled him in IDK. I still remember the barber incident. He seemed to take control of that. Until Jerry is out it isn't going to matter who the coach is

What's deluded about saying it has the highest net worth, makes the most money, and is the most popular in the league? The numbers prove it.

Because it doesn't have anything to do with anything. You're a deluded fan who thinks you deserve a better team than a Jaguars fan because of the team you randomly followed. You don't.
