So Murray's 1,800 yards were magic?

I think Dallas relies on balance, but that requires Romo to have it.

Murrays 1,800 was from imposing our will and Romo converting on 3rd downs.

We still won a majority of our games because of Romo and Dez's ability to make plays outside of the scheme.

Regardless, we weren't out coaching anyone. We just had something other teams could stop.

Son, Garrett can't carry Landry jockstrap

Landry lost early because of expansion.....

Garrett has lost because of ineptitude..... Smart man, he tries to emulate Landry's ways.

I am not going to defend Garrett. He was given the keys to drive the bus much too early and now he's
scrambling to learn what the great coaches already know. Garrett is smart and he's smart enough to
know that he has this year to figure it out. If not, Jerry will become impatient and pull the trigger even
though he will have to pay him a boatload of money to sit in some broadcast booth.

True but that is not how many fans felt during those early years with Landry, many wanted him gone. I agree it was an expansion team but none the less fans did not care and Murchison response to it was to sign Landry to a 10 year deal.

As for any other comparisons they do not exist at this time, you can't compare a man who has already had his run over many years to a guy who is still early in his career.

True, but that's not "magic", as you suggested. That's just real football by a team capable of real football.

I saw what you said. It's just wrong. On a points/offensive series basis relative to the rest of the league, under Romo, we've been a good offense consistently. While on defense, we were really awful for a while and improved to middling.

My Monday's going great. I hope yours is, too.

lol, so your point of view is that the offense has been consistently good. Okay, sounds good, thanks for the input.

Good point. I wish Jerry would just pull the trigger and make Garrett the HC, instead the HC of just the offense.

I wish Jerry would just pull the trigger and fire Garrett. You want to give Garrett more authority? Wow!!!

That was the only year in Jason's tenure where the team showed any bit of identity and consistency. Things fell off the wagon last season for a number of reasons, but it certainly felt like we'd found something.

I don't completely agree with this.

It's easy to look at the stats at the end of the year and conclude the offense is good and the defense is terrible.

However, numbers lack context. Watching the team play year after year, the offense (2014 withstanding) was as inconsistent as the defense was.

The team, as a whole, has had big highs and big lows, and when you average that - you get average.

Agreed. For the first 3 years the offense was one dimensional, predictable, pass happy, and lacked creativity.

The 2013 defense was the worst defense in Cowboys history, and almost the worst in NFL history. The offense has not been anywhere near that level of incompetence in recent years.

Last year the offense was about as bad as it gets. Without Romo.

Awesome offense.

Dreadful defense.

That's what 8-8 looks like.

The defense doesn't have a Tony Romo that makes the "awesome" offense look better than the tired and simple offensive scheme that is provided for it.

That would require that Dez learn the offense in a way he hasn't shown he can.

Was JUST about to post this. I think Jones and Brown both have a higher football IQ. Dez is a physical specimen, and has passion for the game, but is missing a few small things. Still love him, but it is what it is.

I really wanted Garrett to work out. I still hope he does, but besides everything coming together in 2014, his reign has been pretty disappointing. Unfortunately, I think we will look back at the Romo years with some regret that we have had so little playoff success with an elite or near elite QB. When you find that QB, that is when you typically win. I hope I am wrong and Romo can have more success in the playoffs.

I hope every coach works out to some degree. But for me, it was quite clear from Garrett's tenure as OC that he wasnt a good enough coach. And to then make him the HC was doubling down on a mistake. Garrett has done nothing to discredit my analysis of his coaching abilities. If anything, he has completely justified my lack of confidence in him.

The tandem of Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett is one of the worst I have ever seen. Without Romo to make both of them look the least bit competent they would have been even more exposed for how bad they really are. Jerry cant collect talent, formulate a proper roster, or manage the cap, and Garrett cant coach on game day to save his life. Sadly enough, I agree with some that Garrett is here for the long haul.

I personally think Garrett has done a good job. I thought when he was hired, he would put a plan together that would have us competitive over the long haul. I think he has done that. He spent the first few years, shredding old players, bad contracts and no FA money and was still competitive, that's pretty impressive. I thought the coaching job in 2013 was fantastic, even though it was just an 8-8 season, to win 8 games with that team and all the injuries was pretty amazing. In 2014, I thought we saw the plan coming together and was looking forward to 2015 but then again the injuries hit and without good QB play, no team is going to win a lot in today's NFL. Garrett is a good coach and I look forward to this up coming season expecting a complete rebound from 2015, assuming we stay fairly healthy.

Not that .500 football is anything to be happy or proud about, but how do people pretend we've been a "laughingstock" for the last 20 years when the results are so clearly and obviously "average"?

Being .500 sucks but it doesn't suck as bad as being .450 or .400 or .350. We haven't been good but we've been far from a laughingstock. It only seems that way because the media attention is magnified with the Cowboys. Just wish more fans understood that elementary concept.

I have no confidence that Jerry will fire Garrett. Last year proved how bad our coaching is. Without Romo, they got nothing. If he wont fire Garrett after last year and his other years, he just wont do it.

Garrett used TO and Crayton in all sorts of ways. Dez spent his first three seasons having to be lined up properly by Romo. He doesn't "see" the game like others.

See if the coverage call for 1 on 1 on Dez, if It does, chuck it Dez. More often than not, he wins that battle.
