Garrett: More Cole Beasley outside

We are not the patriots. Garrett is not BB. Let's not compare. Steve smith is a hall of famer who was crazy physical and had no problems getting off the line. He might have been short but was way heavier and thicker than beasley or austin.

Claiming you can’t make comparisons because the situations aren’t identical is silly. Garrett is not BB. That doesn’t mean he can’t learn from him.

BB is the greatest coach ever. I'm being serious here. Garrett shouldn't be allowed to coach my son's peewee team. Big difference in coaching talent. Try not to compare the 2.

I think they are way too small to play on the outside. If a bigger corner gets hands on them it's over. I mean maybe once in a while motion them out wide to switch things up but on a regular basis no thx.
Put Byron on him, on the outside, and have Richard tell him to manhandle. See how he responds.

If he’s outside on the wide side of the field he’s not bracketed by the side line. I’ve been skeptical of Cole out wide but I’m ready to be proven wrong, and it’s looked quite good so far in camp.

You can always go less wide. I've thought that we should give Cole a side of the field, and line him up somewhere between the slot and the sideline. If he can cut both ways, he's going to win. If they're keeping him off the sidelines, I can see it working.

You would have thought they would have tried this by now lol.
Nothing surprises me, with this coaching staff, but they might be easing Cole into learning the routes first, before throwing a wolf at him.
That don't make me mad, since we're in the 1st week of TC and he's just getting outside.
We can have a further discussion if we're coming to the end and nobody of significance has put the hurt on Thorito,

Mein got! What are we doing, hoping our midget slot receiver will go down field against 6-footers????
Is this what we have comes to?
I weep for this season. Has 8-8 written all over it.

Beasley's height is a limitation, but short guys can go deep. Steve Smith did great with it. Beasley doesn't have the same speed, but cuts better. He probably starts with more separation, then loses it the longer he runs. Let him go upfield, but them throw it to him 5-15 yards after the cut, not 40 yards downfield.

The point is not to try to make him into Randy Moss. The point is to have a viable option upfield to make the defense defend.

But that doesn't make sense he's a grown man who knows the system. Throw him in the deep end. I hate coddling grown men especially when they are paid to do something. Marinelli's scheme is s*** and they should be competing in TC not letting the other guys win and do your best in coverage.

Having 170 lb wrs on the outside is idiotic. We have to realize not every defense is like rod marinelli and likes to play 8 yards off the LOS so they can have a free release. Bigger corners get hands on them it's over.

Have you ever heard of Clayton and Duper? They ran it up with Marino.

Look it up.

You struggle to understand the difference between comparing personnel deployment and comparing coaches. I’m sure BB runs dive plays, too. By your logic, Garrett should avoid those as well since he’s not BB. Look, there are myriad coaches in this league today worse than Garrett. He’s not a bad coach. He’s just not a particularly good one.

I like the idea. It is not like Garrett said Beasley would play primarily from the outside. Or did I miss that? I think it is good to mix it up and do not see any issues with Beasley running a small handful of routes from the outside.

If you press a guy like Tavon and you miss, it's over too. He's gone and you can't catch up.
If Tavon doesn't win, we throw it somewhere else. If he does win, we've got a big play.

We don't need to win a high percentage of those for it to be worth our while.

Next year it'll be "we need to utilize Zeke in passing game more". Before it was getting Dunbar more involved or moving Dez around. Such simple ideas by a useless coach.

Mid 80's game is different. Those 2 players were light but way faster than beasley. Duper was a track star and clayton was even faster than him. They had the ability to beat a corner deep beasley is limited in that area

You are correct. Tavon makes way more sense than beasley on the outside, beasley is not burning anyone deep.

Come on man... Look at this coaching staff and how they have operated for years.
This is new territory for this elder WR.
It's not Cole's fault that Drooley and Linehan purposefully stunted his growth like he's got a learning disability.

You guys dont think he means Beasley on the outside full- time, do you?
Come on

Taylor Gabriel is 5'8 165 and has had some success playing outside, but he's also fast. It'll be interesting to see where Beasley and Tavon line up, especially when they're both on the field at the same time.

Yeh against marinelli and his s*** scheme. Im not saying Beasley can't play outside ever I just think it should be used as a wrinkle not an every down thing. If you take away the inside, use the sideline, and get hands on him it will be tough. He does not have the speed to beat anyone deep. I like Cole just too easy to take him out of the game on the outside.

You mean coach Richard and his **** scheme?

Marinelli isn’t coaching back end players/scheme.
