Garrett: More Cole Beasley outside

I think Garrett is so clueless that he actually believed this when he said it. Lets put Tavon and Beasley on the outside and have hurns play the slot that will fool the defense LOL.
Especially since the option route does not work too well on the outside...

I remember a time when this board would tease the DC team about their smurf receivers

I don't see the big deal, if Cole is on the outside running crossing routs and slants where this takes away anything the Cowboys want to do on offense. I do expect to see him much of the time at slot with Hurns and Gallup or T Williams on the outside.
This whole new offensive scheme is going to fall flat on it's face.

They better hope Zeke and the OL imposes themselves on teams because our pass offense is going to be horrible i'm afraid.
It's hard to see or weight the impact an effective running game will have on the pass offense in practice but I see your point. In fact, remember a couple years ago we rebuilt the secondary by releasing or not resigning 4 players ( 2 starters )? As the season progressed, it was obvious we too many NEW faces for the unit to make a serious impact. Our WR unit this year is a replay of that unit this year IMO.

So many new receivers with so little time.......

Exactly
It would be difficult to make this stuff up
Now of course, the usual suspects will be telling us how it's a great idea :muttley:

8-8
Jerry promises a better effort in 2019.
Everyone shouts "damn straight!"

I think Josh Norman would gladly take that matchup

doubt it would be any worse than Dez match up. Norman is a physical CB matched up with Physical WR Dez. Not Coles game, he relies on quickness. Then again I think people are making more out of the comment by Garrett. I don' take it as Garrett wanting Cole playing outside all the time just more than he has in the past.

Makes you wonder......either way, it's early but seem they're trying to turn Beasley into team's #1 WR. Hell, he even admits they have him all over the place.

Starting to think we could see another vet added to this unit before the Panthers game......

Dez Bryant?

You ain't "dog" nobody. You are arguing over Beasley because I said he was terrible last year, which he was. I talked about how he was hyped up and folks made excuses for him because they like him. You said name 1 person so I did, which was you but that isn't good enough for you.

Beasley isn't special, he is just a solid slot receiver and can be replaced with rookies that can have the year he did last season. I don't hate Beasley I can't stand the hype and excuses some players get because of fanboys. I say the good and bad with any player but had I said something negative about a player most dislike than everything is good, right. It's a double standard.

I stand by what I said and never denied saying I can't wait for Beasley to get off the team because of so many acting like he is an all-pro. If you don't like what I got to say then move along, you don't need to reply.

I challenged you to show one single place where anyone on this whole forum said Cole is “all-pro” caliber...and you got nothing. Nada.

Now when I ask you to name another slot WR in the NFL who repeatedly gets bracket/double coverage....as Cole faced in ‘17...and I already know what I’ll get from you...crickets.

With the same QB you’re probably right, sadly

Let's see, you want "Beasley to get off the team" because some Cowboy fans got excited about his performance in 2016. Isn't that sort of what "fans" do? And last year wasn't why people like him, it was the performance he put on in 2016 that got all the attention. That doesn't make him an all-pro, but I'd say he was better than "just solid" in 2016.
I'd like to see all our receivers this year match what Beasley did in 2016. If they do, we're going to the Super Bowl.

Why? The OL has been fixed plus it now has more depth.
Zeke is back.
We have a WR's coach who actually teaches route running. For a change!
Dak has another year experience.
There is life after Dez. I think our pass offense may turn out better than you think. All we lost was Dez and Butler and I think that's a plus. Neither of them are irreplaceable. Aside from Hurns, Thompson, and Beasley we have some young talent chomping at the bit to get on the field in Gallup and Lenoir. Not only that but it sounds like Zeke will get more receiving opportunities this year, and that should've happened before now, if not for Garrett.
I see Garrett and Linehan as bigger obstacles than our offensive talent.

yeah lol , but we are stuck with them.
I know cole did some good going long down the seam, but I dont know from what position.
Thing is cole will lost jump balls to most defenders, and he is hard to see way down field.

Me I would try to get him matched up with linebackers, not corner backs lol but that is just ,me.

I think Dak can do the job, he has what amounts to an avg season last year and all of the sudden he is dirt. People need to get over the fact Romo is not here, Dak had nothing to do with it, all he did was his job and in doing so the coaches and organization made a choice. I think Dak is very capable and intelligent QB unfortunately he will have to fight opposing teams and at least part of the fan base. Can't say I am surprised

Garrett didn't say they would be playing Beasley exclusively outside, or even mostly outside, he just said he will line up outside more than in the past. And why not? Outside receivers don't only run straight line deep routes and depend on out muscling and out jumping DBs. The also run shorter routes base on sharp cuts and precise patterns, and Beasley can do that.

Agreed. Not only that, what coaches say publicly at this time of the year doesn't count for much anyway.

Good point......they could also line him up outside and put him in motion.
