We are 2-2 and the NFCeast sucks. lets not jump ship yet. This team has talent and leaders. If I have learned anything watching football for the last decade its that the best teams early in the season arn't a lock anything later in the season. We lost ugly today but there is still 3/4 of the season to play.

Do you not think the offense has taken a clear step back from 2007 when Sparano was still here? Do you not see that we consistently have no running game. Do you not see that despite even "fixing" the offensive line this year we have trouble scoring points and playing consistently throughout the game?

What exactly is getting better?

We averaged 3 points more per game in 2007 than we have thus far through 4 games.

I'm not sure now is the time to panic.

We beat up on terrible Giants and Rams teams and managed a mere 16 against the Chiefs and 14 against the Chargers, including getting shut out in the second half. That isn't going to get it done.

Some of our best players today are some of our youngest.

By definition then we must be a better team than we were a few years ago when that wasn't true.

Especially since we haven't lost anyone of note from the team...as in no longer affiliated with the squad.

I don't understand what you mean.

How is it a miracle to win this division when we are #1 in the division right now? It would be a miracle to not win it at this point....

I honestly dont think Garrett will be fired even if we dont make it to the playoffs

He will not be fired, indeed Tim Macmahon has opined that when Garrett sits down with Jones at the end of the year, it will be over a contract extension, not termination.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4715956/jerry-jones-give-jason-garrett-credit

So the question is do you trust Suzie Sunshine Jones' assessment of Garrett qualities are have we all be hoodwinked and had? The remainder of the season will likely give us the answer.

All this after one blow-out of the Rams. I think if Dallas craps the bed again this year that there is one more year coming under Garrett. Jones likes Garrett too much not to give him every benefit of the doubt. Someone will be the fall-guy though, like Ryan was last year. And you know what is funny, I was listening to WWL in new orleans with Bobby Hebert and Deke last week. They both opined that it is not Ryan but "someone else" who should have been canned after last season. I wonder just who they meant, rhetorically of course! Meanwhile Ryan's defense in New Orleans has quietly gone about the business of winning games.

Garrett will get fired at the end of this season unless there is a miracle and get into the playoffs, but when he does get fired, Marinelli will become our head coach and we will be the second team to go 0-16.

It's never the genius who hired him and built this team year after year fault huh? You people have to notice a pattern by now...No matter how many changes, what is the one constant and stays the same? yes I know he is not going anywhere I know, but I feel like its a waste of time of blaming everyone else all the time.

Have you watched the Boys these last 17 years?

This time next we'll probably be tied for the division lead at 2-3.

Who says we haven't already seen the Boys best football?

Who says the other three teams won't get their act together?

The Skins are only one game behind us after starting 0-3.

I don't like losing just like the next guy. What do you want the guy to do? He took over a veteran aging team and has made it younger, faster, more athletic and more accountable.

I am of the belief that when you do that results will follow.

We have lost two road games against two very good teams by a combined 10 points.

I'm not ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater after 4 games. But by all means...ignore all the good work JG has been doing because of a few plays here or there.

Dez doesn't drop a ball or the ref doesn't call a PI on Claiborne and perhaps we win in KC (a result that looks more impressive today).

We don't have 4 drops on 4 would be 3rd down conversions and perhaps we win in SD (what's worse is these drops are coming from the likes of our better players...Dez, Witten, Harris).

The path to sustained success is not linear.

The path isn't a flat line either. How many times do we have to watch a team self-immolate on the road? How much talent does it take to get that particular propensity purged from the psyche of the Cowboys? Close road games, the bane of the Garrett epoch and a remedy seems nowhere in sight.

Our best players were drafted by Wade Phillips and Bill Parcells.

I like JG.

I like the way the roster is being constructed.

I like the guys we are bringing in and how they hold each other accountable.

I like how the team plays hard and likes playing with and for each other.

I like the churning of the roster.

It's amazing to me what degree of blame is heaved on coaching after the players fail to perform.

Dez, Witten, Williams, and Harris didn't drop balls because of bad coaching. We had 10 possessions total, and those drops killed 4 of them. Toss in the Williams fumble and that's not bad coaching, that's the players beating themselves.

Pure hypothesizing. All we know right now is we are first. Which means we have as good a chance as anybody at the East crown.

Nightmare scenario is we go 9-7 and win the division because the NFCE stinks out loud, get blown out in the wild card round, and Jerry keep JG because of "progress."

And it will be hollow because we went 8-8 in Chan Gailey's final season, made the playoffs and he still got fired.

Two things:

#1: 8-8 could win this division, so Dallas had better finish around 7-9 or 6-10 if people want them to miss the playoffs

#2: I don't see the overall talent that some on here see I suppose. They have some great talent at the skill positions, but the O-line is an average one right now and the D-line is pretty sub-standard. The defensive scheme is currently not working either. The offensive execution is but one aspect of an average team being average.

If JG does go, I hope they make a push to get Lovie Smith. Just my personal choice.

And yet we still can't win consistently. Tells me coaching is the problem.
