I don't like losing just like the next guy. What do you want the guy to do? He took over a veteran aging team and has made it younger, faster, more athletic and more accountable.

I am of the belief that when you do that results will follow.

We have lost two road games against two very good teams by a combined 10 points.

I'm not ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater after 4 games. But by all means...ignore all the good work JG has been doing because of a few plays here or there.

Dez doesn't drop a ball or the ref doesn't call a PI on Claiborne and perhaps we win in KC (a result that looks more impressive today).

We don't have 4 drops on 4 would be 3rd down conversions and perhaps we win in SD (what's worse is these drops are coming from the likes of our better players...Dez, Witten, Harris).

The path to sustained success is not linear.

I think everyone agrees that the Steelers are among the best run organizations in all of sports. They are 0-4. Tomlin isn't on the hot seat. Bill Cowher had a stretch where he went 7-9, 6-10, 9-7 and then 2 seasons later went 6-10 again. If he was here people would have wanted to tar and feather the guy.

I believe JG will be a good coach in this league because he is smart, disciplined and process oriented.

Does this team play hard for JG?

Has this team gotten better every year since JG has been here?

I think the answer to both of those questions is yes despite the back to back 8-8s.

Good post.

If anyone gets fired, it will be Callahan, not Garrett, IMO.

I laugh when people talk about "the roster" Dez, Romo, Sean Lee, Witten, Ware....were all here before loser became head coach. Without that previous core this team would be in dire straights.

It's amazing to me what degree of blame is heaved on coaching after the players fail to perform.

Dez, Witten, Williams, and Harris didn't drop balls because of bad coaching. We had 10 possessions total, and those drops killed 4 of them. Toss in the Williams fumble and that's not bad coaching, that's the players beating themselves.
It's funny how coaches of successful teams find a way to keep their players from fumbling/interceptions/etc. And even if they do those things, they still win. While other coaches, loser coaches, are sitting around constantly making excuses. If this, if that, if the sun was blue, if injuries, if cows produced beer, if Garrett didn't have stupid players which he drafted, excuses are for losers.

I agree with the guys that do not think Garrett gets fired at the end of the season...even if they go 7-9 or 6-10.
Jerry will pull another excuse out of his bag of excuses to spare Garrett. Jerry is not nearly prepared to believe he has made a mistake with JG.

Except that isn't true. Are the coaches in Denver loser coaches because of a hail Mary?

Our fantasy completely lacks perspective.

Which makes it hilarious to watch them criticize others.

Callahan will be gone before Garrett if the Offense doesnt produce. Since Jerry is fond of following trends, he may take a page out of Baltimore's play book last year and get rid of him mid-season.

Garrett will get fired at the end of this season unless there is a miracle and get into the playoffs, but when he does get fired, Marinelli will become our head coach and we will be the second team to go 0-16.

There is a 0% chance that Garrett gets fired this year, Jerry doesn't have the stones.

Dallas really should be 1-3. The Giants game was lost if not for 6 turnovers, and we still barely hung on to a team that is now 0-4. There is good winning, like the Broncos, Hawks, and Chiefs, and bad winning like the Lions, Cowboys and Texans. There is good losing, like the Bears and Chargers, and bad losing like the Cowboys, Eagles, Commanders, and Giants. What does this mean? Simply that the teams playing on the bad side of the equation, really are BAD. The anomaly is a win. The teams playing on the good side of the equation are really GOOD. The anomaly is a loss.

And when I say BAD, it's more than just injuries, or lack of talent. It's an organizational failure, it's a coaching failure, and it's a QB problem. The QB is the rudder. Romo wouldn't know what a rudder is if it smacked him in the head. He's like this hot shot jock in high school with the one great buddy, and everybody else are hangers on. The reason opposing defenses are confident they can rattle him is because he's a Linus under pressure, with Witten as his security blanket, and that combined with his apparent inability to read defenses, makes him a pretty easy target for a savvy defensive coordinator. Honestly, I have never seen such indecisiveness, and such idiotic throws from a franchise QB week in week out. Yes, you can blame the offensive play-calling, (I call it dumbing down the plays for Romo), blame Garrett, blame Callahan, blame the OL, or even blame the defense, but the one constant in all these offensive failures is Romo: as in Romo to Witten, and Romo to every receiver not named Dez, or a fumbling Romo, or holding on the ball too long Romo, or check down Romo, etc... Curiously missing this season is Mr. throw-an-interception-per-game Romo. (see dumbing down the plays reference)

So, despite all the improvements over the off season such as coaching, the OL overhaul, the Draft going well, the many talented receivers, the playbook changing with Romo's input, (ah irony, don't you love it) the one constant in another sluggish start is Romo.

What will happen the rest of the season? My guess is Romo will still play as inconsistent as ever. Garrett's mistakes will be amplified, Callahan will be harshly criticized, and scapegoats will be born ala Rob Ryan. Meanwhile, JJ's pet pony, Mr. Romo the Untouchable will continue to get a free pass from too many fans, from the owner, and from the coaches.

The bottom line is that a very talented team, and a very stellar franchise, is being run right into the ground by mediocrity on every level!

If the Giants, Eagles and Skins all tank this year as is the course right now and the Boys don't win the division I think Jerry will make a move even though he does not want to. The div is there for the taking, no way he lets that slip if we go 8-8 again
