I think you have to be wary of a guy that's spent so long in the NFL (35 years) and has only called plays twice.

Sorry if a repost, or if it belongs somewhere else.

But, I just saw on the NFL Network ticker that the red headed "genius" is scheduled to meet with the Broncos about their head coaching vacancy.

They also have Spagnolo coming in as well...
Years ago, I always hoped that Dan Reeves would succeed Tom Landry as the Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Denver stole him.

Now I have hopes that Jason Garrett will be the next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Watch History repeat itself.

I think what some of us forget is Garrett's pedigree.

His father is one of the most respected pro scouts ever and teams do respect his connections and the fact he comes from a football family. He is very likely to bring a few coaches in his hip pocket so to speak. That sometimes is just as important as his own individual qualifications.
And I'm not at all sure that family connection is a good thing. I just wonder if Jerry again overweights them because of their connection to the Glory Days.

I mean, yeah, Garrett scouted Aikman. Well, guess what, Stevie Wonder could scout Aikman. Garrett's also the one who scouted Drew Henson and convinced Jerry to trade for him. Seeing him say on Hard Knocks that Todd Lowber was, what, the best athlete he'd ever seen was creepy (and wrong) as hell.

I wouldn't want to replace Garrett with just anybody, but if a good solid vet coordinator were available, I don't think it would hurt us a bit if Jason left. Especially considering Holmgren could be only a year away.

He has had his chance before and failed miserably.

Not to mention I think he is a little too close to the WRs. He might more inclined to please them even more than Garrett was.

We need an emphasis on the ground game. Our team is structured that way and our offensive line is built more along those lines.

How so? His Vikings offense was 3rd in the league that year.

His only other season as a coordinator was with Kordell Stewart at QB.

For us, no. Jones is far too tied into the past with these assistants. From Garrett to Houck to Wilson. It is not healthy. But I am sure it is comfortable.

In terms of the NFL, we all know this league is a Good Ol' Boys network so it should not surprise anyone that he is getting interviews.

There are two teams who seem to get players and coaches I want on a fairly regular basis.

Denver is one of them. It is a bad sign for me.

How could anyone want Garrett? He's the worst coordinator in the league!

Jones' gullibility is known league-wise.
Other owners have a bet about how much he will up Garretts salary based on the idea that someone else actually wants him.

I would be very interested to see what Jerry would do if Garrett does become the candidate of choice at one of these places.

So if he was doing so well why did Dennis Green decide to basically make him resign rather than take a demotion to WR coach?

Sorry. We could and should do better.

He is doing what he needs to continue to do.

Don't know, but I'd be hoping for Shanahan with Mangini as the DC.

I dunno. I asked you. So basically all there is to the "failed miserably" line is that Dennis Green fired him? I guess I thought there might be more to it.

No, the fact is he has been a lifer and has been replaced both times he was charged with being the offensive coordinator.

I don't know about you, I am not all onboard seeing if the third time is the charm.

We already have a two-time strikeout victim as our head coach.
