You're skipping steps here. Go in order. In order to reach the playoffs when week 17 comes you better either have a spot locked up already, or be fighting for a spot that game. Half of the league reaches week 17 and their season is already over at that point. The game means nothing. So if you have these high expectations or whatever they have to not be eliminated before week 17. I.E. a lot of those 2000 teams.

That's nice. Unfortunately our QB plays like a deer in headlights in those games.

I find it hilarious that the O-line can somehow play good or decent enough in other games and anyone with eyes can see that, but somehow against the Commanders those dudes act like they couldn't block my little sister. I had people who are blatant cowboy haters calling and telling me it was ridiculous how a Qb could be getting rushed so fast and that they didn't see how in the world Romo was expected to be able to do anything against a blitz like that. And how they would be calling for their owners head if he put their franchises QB in a situation like that. But of course God-Romo is somehowe supposed to be able to overcome all that, like all the "GREAT" qbs did and when he doesn't it means he choked. Lol that is sheep logic.

And im not sure if you remember the Giants game where Romo's hand was the size of a freaking baseball glove, because he busted it up the week before against the Eagles. Or Victor Cruz singlehandedly making our corners look like children. But hey nah lets not let facts take away from a good agenda bro.

Giants won superbowl in '11 and they had to fight tooth and nail to get out of our divison alive so idk about the division sucking so badly as you're saying.

Since you have seemed to be anti-romo for forever, even before back surgeries or any of that, I want you to answer a question. What's a bigger joke when we were going 5-11 in the 2000's basically a bottom feeding team, or at least having something to play for EVERY SINGLE YEAR ROMO HAS PLAYED. He has not had a single year as a starter that week 17 didn't mean something or either we were already locked into the playoffs by that time. The biggest joke in franchise history is you Zordon. Well either you or your best friend ufcrules I haven't quite decided yet.

Those years (2000s) really put fear in some of the Cowboys' fanbase. Since Romo is better than the stiffs that was playing during those years, some fans cling to him as if he is a once in a generation player. Romo is better than those guys, but he has reached his peak and he can not get the team over the hump. He give it his best shot, but he is limited. It is possible that another QB could not only play as well, but another QB could do much better. I have read hundreds of post that stated no other QB could do as well as Romo has done. Kitna kinda proved that it can happen. In Kitna's case, he provided much needed leadership during a time when Romo couldn't do it.

Couldn't disagree more. Romo has the exact skillset needed to be able to help this abyssmal franchise stay afloat. We talk all the time about how poor our O-line was for all those years and thats even with Romo helping out with all his scrambling. He has the perfect balance of scrambling abillity but still being able to pass the ball accurately. Guys like Cam, Kap, Rg3 can scramble and run but none of them are as accurate as Romo. Then you have guys that are as accurate or even more, but don't have the scrambling ability, so they would have gotten wrecked behind our line. I.E Brees, Brady, Manning. There is only 1 QB in the entire league who I would say could have run our offense as well & probably even better than Romo and that is Aaron Rodgers. He has the accuracy of Manning and the scrambling of Romo but even better. Anybody besides him, and hell no they wouldn't have done anything but ended up on IR with worse records than 8-8.

"JOKE OF THE LEAGUE" So being in position to go the playoffs 3 years in a row, which by definition means you were competing, makes you the joke of the league? Let's not deal in extremes here. Because im damn sure the Jags, Raiders, Bills, Commanders, Rams, Buccanners and PLENTY of other teams would have loved to be 8-8 and have at least been competing. And before you cue in the "we are the cowboys our history is greater than that defense" that is irrelevant. The fact is you're exaggerating and we have been nowhere near the joke of the league. And the fact that you even had the nerve to put the Commanders in that conversation when they have sucked EVERY YEAR except the 1 they beat us in is comical. Sounds like you're reaching for straws to further your agenda. I disagree that this is a loser environment, and because of the salary cap flushing half your team doesn't work anywhere but in Madden but whatever floats your boat bro. Hopefully that young charismatic qb doesn't have to deal with a defense even close to what Romo did or imma feel sorry for him too.

Good post. Its comical that people blame everything on Romo. They also conveniently bunch Romo in the "three consecutive win or go home games" when he didnt even play. No mention of the worst defense in the history of the franchise but its always Romos fault. The blame needs to be directed at the GM of this franchise because he is responsible for the poor product on the field.

It is not the only big game that Romo has blown. His record against teams with winning records is not very good. I will give him credit. He has produced some late game comebacks against bad teams. I will really be happy when Romo retires and the team can move on.

I honestly don't understand how a serious Cowboy fan can have this point of view. I'm not talking about casual Dallas fans who occasionally watch games, but fans who watch every game and even join forums regarding the Dallas Cowboys.

You're right, his record against "winning records is not very good", but that's because his own team "is not very good". It has little to do with Romo's individual performance, and more to do with his team's performance as a collective group. I'm probably about to drop some earth shattering news here that many didn't know, so don't be shocked too much (/sarcasm) ... Football is the ultimate team sport, the team with the best 46 man roster on game day wins most of the time, not the team with the best QB.

Also, here's an article from 2012 that talks about Romo's INDIVIDUAL performance against "teams with winning records" and "bad teams", feel free to educate yourself more regarding that particular topic. It has some very telling information, like how Romo has a career 96.4 QB Rating against teams with 9 wins or more.

Doomsdayers? Lol. You confuse that with people who are realistic. Romo is far from young. He's 34 and coming off 2 back procedures in less than a year. They are just pointing that out.

Does calling them back "procedures" give that point of view more credibility since it cant be accurately stated that he had 2 "surgeries" when we know one was reported as a cyst removal.

No its not realistic to proclaim the coming doom and devastation for the next 7-8 years just because Romo is 34 yrs old and had some back surgeries or procedures, or whatever they get classified as this week. Whats next, will we be calling them "do or die" or "elimination" back issues?

Whats realistic is that Romo is by far the best QB we have had since Aikman retired. Didnt Romo lead the team to tie a franchise best record of 13-3 at one time? Sure we got bumped in the playoffs, but was that on Romo or Crayton? We can argue this stuff over and over and over and over, but the simple fact is we have Romo and have him for at least a couple of years with his contract. Some will be glad when he's gone. Some wont. Either way, realism as it relates to Romo and this team says he gives us our best shot to win presently and all the doom and gloomers arent really realists no matter how often they claim to be.

Dont you know that articles like that, and even stats dont tell the real story with Romo? Thats what the realists will tell you. And then to further bolster their argument they will throw in a reference to how clutch QB's get it done when it matters most and use E-Lie as proof - you know the guy who lead the league in INT's and has something like 50 more career INT's than the choker.

This thread has gone down hill so fast I think I actually thought I saw someone blame our loss to Philly last year on Romo. Unreal.

I notice there's no mention of the preceding win at Washington. Seriously Injured, crippling pain, game-winning drive , on the road vs a division rival, to prevent the season from being over.
EPIC
THAT is the last game Romo played in.
Yet somehow, this guy is a loser.

You wonder if some of theses hater have ever played the game beyond jr high.
