Publicly? He never blames anybody on the team publicly. That stuff is handled behind closed doors in Dallas. What would be accomplished by blaming anybody in front of the Dallas media?

For the record, he has publicly accepted responsibility for the team's performance personally many times. You're right that he's not big on laying blame.
Look, I like Garett, don't think he should be fired. He has come a long way with player relations and motivation. But, he has not improved one iota in game management and I don't think he has the stones to control his coordinators.

Just out of curiosity, why are you more qualified than me to judge Garrett? Not being a smart*** just wondering.

Had to get off the phone to keep up with you. :)

It's not that I necessarily think I'm more qualified to judge him than you are and more that I don't think you're more qualified to judge him than I am just because you've met him. This place is full of people who believe they are plenty qualified to judge him as a coach and who have been dead wrong at just about every step.

Nothing but respect for your opinions and your coaching background, btw.

Sorry bout the phone call, Im rooting for Garrett, I just wish he would come off his high horse and show some ownership. He's so damn smug. I REALLY want him to succeed. Maybe then you and I and a whole bunch of other guys on the CZ can say a toast to our Boys. Appreciate you!

BTW, I didn't just meet him, I had an hour long discussion with him about his offense and his coaching style.

Dak Prescott shared his thoughts on the support he received from Cowboys Nation during his rookie season. Here’s what he told reporters on Monday morning following the final team meeting of the season:

“I’m thankful, thankful for such a tough fan base to be behind me, to have supported me this year through highs and lows and through adversity – maybe not when they wanted to or whatever – but I’m definitely thankful for them,” said Dak. “I’m glad to wear the silver & blue and ready to get back at it.”

Two hours after Sunday’s tough loss to the Packers, Dak and teammate Ezekiel Elliott walked back onto the playing field. They were accompanied by friends and family. Along with hundreds of fans, they were ‘taking shelter’ inside AT&T Stadium during a tornado warning and heavy storm.

When fans still seated inside the stadium saw Dak & Zeke, the fans began chanting ‘We Are Proud! We Are Proud! We Are Proud!’

“It was good,” Dak said of those chants. “I got a good part of it, my family came down and I got to hang out with my family down there and soak everything in. Go out on the field again and reminisce the season, reminisce that game. It was a hell of a fight, we just came up short.”

The feeling of coming out on the losing end of a shootout with the Packers will serve as motivation during the off season.

“It’s definitely going to help,” Dak conceded. “You don’t want to go into the offseason as a loser. Only one team (the Super Bowl winner) gets to go in as a winner. So it’s going to allow the chip on my shoulder to grow and for us to get better and improve.”

As for the team meeting on Monday morning, Dak admits it was emotional...

One either grows with what is on the table...or he remains in the past and with old thought patterns as well.

To do the latter, he would first have to give away what was accomplished this past season, and have no clue of what 2014 meant as well.

He has never put the blame on himself, ultimate spin master.
Things just seem to go to hell when playing the Packers. Outside of the regular season win this year, the Packers tend to bring out the worst in Dallas:

IRVING - One day after he blamed Tony Romo for the first of two interceptions the quarterback threw in the final minutes of Sunday's embarrassing 37-36 loss to Green Bay, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett admitted he also had a role in the monumental meltdown.

"We should have done a better job," Garrett said Monday. "I should have done a better job; the staff should have done a better job; Tony should have done a better job."

http://dev-wpcom.timeinc.net/simmqb...son-garrett-dallas-cowboys-green-bay-packers/

Romo did the classy thing, only saying that he and Beasley weren’t on the same page. Garrett handled himself with much less tact. Regarding Romo’s first interception, the coach made the point of saying, “It was a run call, though, that he threw the ball on … I think he’d be the first one to tell you right now that he probably should have run the ball in that situation.”

This fan is tired of a continual flow of warped and interpreted view of events on anything said by a Cowboy, Coach, or Jerry. Put in context of how they are really presented, and then deal with the facts in that statement.

Jason Garrett, NEVER, throws a player under the bus, for any media's amusement...PERIOD.

What from that article makes you think he's not challenging himself or his staff to get better?

Too late now. Had a chance to make a run at a SB and decided to leave their best QB on the sideline. And now he's gone. And for some reason, it's okay that this team lost in the divisional round, despite being 13-3, having a bye week, home field, and playing a team they dominated earlier in the season. But the 13-3 team from 2007? Horrible disappointment, Romo couldn't get it done, Cabo, etc.

Remind me again of the mistake Romo made in that game that was as bad as Dak's interception? Oh, that's right, you can't. Bunch of Dak apologists, that's all there is to it.

First off, there was a give and take away concerning interceptions: 1 - for Dak and 1- for Rodgers.

If one is lamely going back in history to when Tony threw two late game interceptions? Then that is lame...as it doesn't compare to causes.

Talk about a tight end, Cook, going pretty uncovered and setting up the winning margin for Green Bay, on a route barely jogged by himself....Romo? Dak?

We didn't lose either game because of either QB.

Good point. I shouldn't have said "never." But it's rare for Garrett to slip up like that.

Jesus Christ dude. So 7+ years ago before he was a head coach you talked to him about play calling? What are you angling for here? Dude already said he respected your coaching background, and I assume that extends to your insight into the game. At the end of the day though, you're logged into the fan zone discussing with us.

Oh, ok, sarge (no disrespect here, former Army myself) I should clarify: I never said Garrett threw anyone under the bus and even think blame is too strong here. But Garrett does question Romo's decision to pass out of the run play, which is ok by me. King and others may see that as blaming Garrett but I think that is even too much of a "hot take."

It really should be questioning a player's decision . . . blame may be a bit much.

I, for one, appreciate that he doesn't play the blame game. I don't even care for the falling on the sword that some coaches do. I just want to know that mistakes are being corrected and be able to see that evidence the next time out.

With all due respect, I disagree. I've been a football coach for a long time, I've played pool with Les Miles, had drinks with Wade Phillips, conversed at length with Nick Saban, Mack Brown and other greats. I met with Garrett for over an hour when he was the OC in Dallas, so, unless you are Garrett in disguise, I think I am more qualified to judge than you are. I'm not wearing fan blinders, I am simply sharing my opinion.
But he did stay ..at the Holiday Inn

This is a good "feel good" article.

I hope our team doesn't go into next season expecting it to be this easy though, they need to be angry, not complacent.

It's a fine line of how you handle a winning season that ends disappointing. I believe our teams in the Romo era seemed to take the losses almost too hard. Romo looked pitiful after losses with his head down and defensive in post game interviews early in his career. We always went into the next season as the media's favorite to go all the way and we just never had that same fire from one year to the next.

Dak almost seems satisfied to add this loss to his list of experiences based on his words. Satisfied isn't the right word but he expects this loss to make the team better next season. I'm not sure if this is better or worse but it's hard to have two very good seasons back to back....it's something this franchise hasn't really done in two decades. You're going to have to work double as have the same success.
