On 105.3 the fan. Jason Garret was asked about the odds of winning a game, based on analytics, between kicking the last FG or going for it on 4th.

Garret said “we don’t use those numbers during the game”.

I am not the type of person that believes analytics are everything and they are the end all be all. I don’t think you always go with the analytics numbers, because opponent and flow of the game are just as important.

That being said, they don’t use them at all during the game? They don’t at least factor those things in when making the decisions?

That is asinine.

The cowboys gameplan vs the Patriots was to stay warm.

We almost won......

Whatever. They made the right call for that point in the game. They go for it and fail you guys would whine about not getting points.

The cowboys lost. So you can’t say they made the right call. If we are being honest.

they may have lost if they went for it too.

But you can’t sit there and post “it was the right decision” when the cowboys lost. You have no proof it was the right call.

I liked the decision to kick the FG. In the end, it looks like the right decision. We got the ball back with 3 timeouts and the opportunity to win the ball game with a drive.

I did not have confidence in Dak to make the play for a TD on 4th.

The FG, even under those conditions was a gimme. The 4th down play has a 50-50 at best but I would say more like 25% chance.

In the end you would need a FG to win the game and it could have very well been a 40-50 yarder. Why not take the 25 yarder.

6 mins left you take the FG.

The decision in and of itself is not the point of the thread.

The refusal to at least take analytics into consideration during games, is the point of the thread.

No no no. You couldn't score all game you take the shot there. Defense has played well let them make a stop. You probably get the ball back closer than the 8 to drive 92 yards to win the game.

What 3rd down had you converted on all night that gave you confidence we would convert the 4th?

That must be a joke? No way! I hipe you are joing why on earth would he think that is a good idea...
Took Dak a half of game of throwing duds to figure out he may need gloves. Guess he didn't bother to figure that out all week knowing the forecast.
So long as he gets his bag he good

I think this whole, "should have gone for the TD," thing is a perfect example of lemmings jumping on a narrative.

It was 4th and 7. The WRs and QB had multiple issues with handling the ball. There was nearly 7 minutes left in the game and but for good field position from turnovers and a blocked punt NE hadn't done much offensively all game. They in fact got points and the ball back with an opportunity for the lead. That situation was played fine.
If you plan on kicking the field goal, your playcalling on 2nd and 3rd down is much different. You're probably not in 4th and 7.

I don't actually hate the FG there but...you go from needing a stop and a touchdown to...needing a stop and a touchdown. The field goal doesn't change much.

It RAINED in Dallas on Friday. Yet the cowboys practiced indoors. Rather than outside in the rain. Despite knowing it would RAIN during the game.
That decision alone cost us probably a chance at a couple scores in the first half. If Dak practices Friday in the rain, he knows he has to use gloves and an int and 2 missed throws on 3rd down could have been completely different!
