shortly after this happened, the Texans staff was saying that they ruled out a heart attack.

How could this be a heart attack? Andy Reid is older, fatter, yet not collapsing? Could have just been a back/muscle spasm?

Just by appearances John Fox looks fit & healthy & he needs heart surgery. Kubiak looks fit & healthy too.

Coach Reid is morbidly obese.

It is true that looks can be deceiving.

Texans HC Gary Kubiak was treated with IV medicine designed to break up clots consistent with people who suffer strokes, per medical sources

Gary Kubiak was given Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), a protein that breaks down blood clots in people who suffer strokes, per sources.

I just looked to see if there was any official word from the team on him & could find nothing other than a video blurb from last night by Wade.

Sounds serious from that tweet WG.

So I guess they go with Wade.

I thought it was a possible stroke or a pulmonary embolism at first glance. That is just speculation on my part. There is still very little word on what happened here in Houston.

Official team statement

“Our primary concern is of course with Gary’s health and well-being,” Texans Executive VP of Football Operations and General Manager Rick Smith said. “There have been so many people throughout the city and across the country that have reached out to express their love and support and we are thankful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers. Gary is alert, coherent and in good spirits. He is continuing to be evaluated and monitored.”

Accompanied by team personnel and family, Kubiak went through a battery of tests at the hospital. Kubiak was admitted overnight and will remain with medical personnel for at least the next 24 hours.

Well whatever happened I wish him the best & a complete recovery. That statement was fairly vague but I guess there is no definite diagnosis at this time.

Millions of people watching on TV and thousands in the stadium and lots of money on the game from gambling...

I was listening to a local radio guy talking about this today. He used to be out of Sacramento and covered the Raiders when Gruden was coaching there; said that on Tuesdays every week for the press conference, it always looked like Gruden hadn't slept since the Sunday game. People there estimated that he regularly spent 15 hours a day in the team facility, plus living an hour away, plus eating at some point, so figures he got maybe 4 hours of sleep a night on average.

Pro coaches are under an incredible amount of stress, and with being on a "hot seat" like Kubiak has been this season, it's not so surprising to see it finally culminate in a serious health issue. There have been proposals before to limit NFL facilities to 7 AM-7 PM hours - may not be a bad idea for health reasons for staff as well as players.

Interesting. He's a young man. Perhaps the stress was just too much & built up into these stroke like symptoms.

I think the coach at Ohio State now had some health issue & took some time off to just recharge. I think it's him. Anyway perhaps Kubiak just needs to quit for awhile & get well. He may have no other choice.
