Gary took a pay cut

Again, Gary disappeared long before the injuries. It's a good excuse until you look into it.
They couldn't stop the run. Perhaps that affected Gary and his role? Less of a focus on rushing the passer? Haven't watched the film. Has anyone here?

Yeah, but total it was still more than Gary in 3 less games. Gary’s 7.5 sacks, his sack history just isn’t impressive….we need more production with pass rushing. Maybe he will prove us wrong, we will see.
7.5 sacks is all you need from Gary if others are doing their part. We dont need a 16 sack menace to win.

Gary's 7.5 sacks was more sacks than anyone on Seattle had this season. That defense wasnt too bad.

Eagles sack leader in 2024 was Sweat with 8. That defense did pretty good.

Again, we need multiple good players. Not just 1 monster with nothing else. Gary is fine.

Not that wild to me. He was completely nonexistent the 2nd half of the season last year to the point the coaches in Green Bay began to question his effort.

And he's essentially replacing a player in Clowney who just played better and better as the year went on. 8.5 sacks and not even on the team in September.
Clowney surprised me last year and I would like to see him return even with the Gary trade.

I'm guessing Gary offers better run defense than Clowney, but Clowney is the guy you need in there on 3rd down passing situations and you can get him without paying Hendrickson type of money.

We got Gary for a 4th round pick….

Some of you guys are tripping that don’t like it

Yes ...... guys about to get cut take pay cuts

In other news ........ the sun is hot.

He won't be living in other states. His residence will be Texas.
Players have to pay the taxes for where the game is played. I think that's a screwed up rule, but I don't know anything about state taxes.

A "few buck," like 10+ million per year on the cap? Im fine with trading a 4th to guarantee I get my player, and don't enter into a bidding war.

I wasnt referring to going all in or budget busting either. I was only commenting on Gary. We had a hole and filled it with an above average pass rusher and good to great run defender. I agree we need to do more, but I cant justifiably crap on this move.
Absurd. No one is paying Rashan Gary an extra $10 million, which is why he agreed to a lesser amount than the contract he already had. You just don't want to admit that our front office is :espn:

So Jaelen Phillips is avg 30 per year, has worse numbers and is always hurt and you don't believe Gary can get 25 on the open market?

Its not hard, just look at the other pass rusher contracts this offseason. Then come back and tell me how absurd it is. Dont let your hatred make you stupid.

It's not hatred, it's common sense.

You know who else knew he couldn't get $25M on the open market? Gary & his agent. Because he took a significant paycut in working a new deal with Dallas. If he thought he could get anything approaching the fairy tale #s you dreamed up, he'd have refused, got released, and hit the open market for a nice fat raise.

Don't let your blind homerism make you look like an idiot.

He took a cut because he had nothing guaranteed and gets immediate cash in hand. Zero chance we were gonna trade a 4th and immediately cut him, absolutely zero.

Again all you have to do is exert the energy to see what other pass rushers have been paid this off season.

Its not a magically different market for Gary, just because you're butt hurt.

He had nothing guaranteed, but could've gotten $25 million in free agency....yes, makes a lot of sense....

Dallas' only leverage would've been cutting him this summer before his '26 salary guaranteed. Most of the leverage was with Gary. He could've just sat out and forced Dallas to guarantee his $.

No player is going to take a $10 million pay cut, forego free agency, if he has the market value to get paid. He and his agent knew that he didn't. They knew there was no big pay day awaiting, which makes our FO look as dumb as ever coughing up a 4th rounder for a guy who was about to be on the street.

Gary must not have gotten the memo that playing for the Cowboys means you’re entitled to be the highest paid player in NFL history at your position.

But all jokes aside this was refreshing to see. Good move by the FO and good on Gary for playing ball at the negotiating table

Cowboys fans love when players take pay cuts for zero team success. Lowest I.Q. fan base in the nation.
