GB - Quick thoughts Week 10

8-1 and finds a way to critique the QB. The ROOKIE QB.

SMH

Ppl are nitpicking now, because #S are just not in their favor.

Unreal that ppl are criticizing the QB has led us to 8-1, has had come from behind victories, has excellent completion %, and practically no turnovers. So ppl are now resorting to the few missed throws per game that every QB commits as evidence that this isn't one of the most impressive rookie QB performances in recent memory

Zeke may well hit the Rookie Wall, but DeMarco averaged 28 touches a game in 2014 and Zeke is averaging 24 this year. It doesn't sound like a lot but its a significant difference. Also Morris will get more carries to rest Zeke as the season goes on.
I was very happy to see JG show some restraint and pull Zeke against Cleveland when he was close to 100 yds. I know not everyone wants to see McFadden come back, but I see him as an upgrade over Morris.

I could see it, but I think DMC has more value as a trade chip than as a backup. I also think he is one of those RBs that needs to get a certain number of carries to get into a rhythm and wouldn't do that backing up Zeke.

I understand the rhythm that DMC would like but he would know it is what it is. We have a somewhat limited playbook because it's Dak's rookie campaign, but that book gets cut to half of that with Morris in. He's not a blocker or receiver and you see a lot of the drives he starts bog down pretty fast. I think there would be no dropoff with DMC on the field.

You realize the trade deadline is a week in the rear view mirror at this point right? DMC will either be activated in the next few weeks or will sit on the IR for the year.

Where would this team be without Prescott. Last year with the same OL the QBs were awful.
In mild defense of the scrub qbs last year, DMC ain't no Zeke. The running game with Zeke is better and more consistent then it was last year at any time.

Not sure what game you watched, but the Cowboys had plenty of plays in the first half where they just didn't run the ball.
Dallas had 27 plays in the first half 41 for the steelers.

Elliot got the ball on 9 total plays of Dallas 27 first half plays. Morris was in on Dallas 2nd longest series of the half. So Elliot touched the ball on 1/3 of dallas' total plays.

Dak definitely missed some easy throws again today that might have lead to a less dramatic finish had they been on point. That and getting cute on offense taking Elliott out, dumb play selection etc... .

He is judging him to Romo's standard, which is what everyone here should be doing. It's not a knock on Prescott at all, no one denies the kid has been great. Also he had a turnover and has fumbled the ball a lot this year.
It's football. He has the ball the most. It happens.

It's a stretch to bring in the plays where he received the ball rather than ran it. The point here is that we need to run the ball more and with Elliott. 7 rushes in the first half made zero sense.

Know it won't be a popular opinion, but I thought Dak left a lot to be desired in this game. He continues to be careless with the ball and gave the Steelers an early 6. He seemed consistent only in that he would throw low speed, behind or above. Made Beasley look like a terrible receiver today. Don't want to harp on this, but still think Romo should be starting. He did have a much stronger second half though. I think Tomlin really bailed him out.

Zeke continues to be the best player not just out of the draft but in the league this year. I'm not even vindicated at this point in wanting to draft him 4th overall. Some people wanted Bosa or Ramsey, some people wanted to trade down and try to pick him up later, I have to say we're not 8-1 if we do any of these.

I'm not sure if Zeke has conditioning issues is just getting gassed or what. Hating them taking him out of the game. I like Morris a lot but seeing him in the game infuriates me. Almost certainly a lost drive with him out there, and some people thought he would be fine as the starter this year or even more incredulously that he should start over Elliott. Zeke needs to be spelled in SMALL doses that don't disrupt drives. And he needs to be in there in the red zone especially. I'm stunned the coaches are so hesitant to use him properly, we better overload on Zeke in the playoffs. Coaching needs to take a moment and reevaluate what they're doing here.

The offense put the defense in a really bad position today. They didn't play a great game, but they stopped a pretty high powered offense from completely controlling the game.

Bailey continues to be absolutely money.

#1 best player on the active roster - Ezekiel Elliott
#2 Dan Bailey

It's true Zeke is money I wasn't happy about taking him at 4 but with Romo down, Zeke and the OL are carrying this team and now it looks brilliant. Romos come in back week 15 or so don't worry we are not going into the playoffs with a rookie. But there no need to rush Romo back let the kid play until it matters.

I wouldn't start a cold Romo in the playoffs. You want him to be in postseason form in the playoffs, he needs to start soon. Not liking what I just heard from Jones.

You bring Romo back now he might get hurt then your forced to play a rookie in the playoffs. With Romo taking over 2nd team reps the next 5 weeks he will be more than ready for week 15. Three games is plenty to knock off rust before the playoffs. Romo coming back has always been the plan it is a luxury to be able to preserve him for the playoffs. Some are concerned that it will be difficult to bring him back if we wait that long and keep winning but the same pundits that are saying " you can't take Dak out now " are the same ones that will be screaming " you can't go into the playoffs with a rookie " when that time comes just watch.

Romo can walk right in and run this offense. I have no problem with them riding Dak unless he really screws up. Despite his pedestrian start, he went 12 of 13 to finish the game, starting with the dart to Bryant. You can't argue with that.

I can agree with this. If you remember when Romo started, people said the same thing that his mechanics needed to improve, and he did. So I have no doubt Dak will get it fixed.
Tony continued to get better and smarter. Dak will do the same because that work ethic that Tony and witten have will rub off in him. The best of Dak is still a few years away. And if you are the front office of other east teams you are losing sleep knowing that

You may have something there.

But in the second half he focused and took control.

Something we long timers have not see since the age of Roger.
