They knocked the one down I used to go to, I liked those 3 or 4 specials they'd run on the roast beef and cheese for $5,,,and load'em up with the
Horsey Sauce.
Now I think it's 2 of those for $5. I remember the four for $5, too, Melon. And their curly fries are outrageous.

They have knocked down a lot of them. Sucks.

I don't know if it's due to Rod or JG taking more control over the D, but I like what they are doing. Last season we saw changes in the coaching. This season we're revamping the players.

Secondary coaching. One of them is from Michigan under Harbaugh, so it's telling we took Lewis, and Taco for that matter.

I also believe Eberflus was promoted to passing game coordinator on defense last year.

Agreed they looked better last year. Watch out for Eberflus, depending on how long Rod stays, he's probably first in line for next DC.

I like him a lot. Just hope he has the patience to stick around. Actually I was impressed with everybody in the backfield. The players didn't really change, but their production sure did.

Garrett did make the call on demoting Scandrick to nickel/dime only.

QB's of the NFL are going be extra tempted to take advantage of the Cowboy's rookies in the secondary and I hope our rookies are ready to pounce on that opportunity. With an improved pass rush and athletic young secondary, I wholly expect an uptick in takeaways this coming season.

I don't recall playing with very
Many big leads during the games last season ( at least not nearly big enough for my liking)
A quick review of last seasons wins indicate they were kinda close games, again, just looking at the final score.

I would say we were definitely leading in most games and had some pretty easy wins. Certainly more then the previous year when we went 4-12. So in that regard, the defense was in much better position last year. Which in my mind, certainly helped its rankings.

Getting talent. I think much of it starts up front and being able to create consistent pressure where you not only get sacks but force a QB to get rid of the ball before he wants leading to bad passes that can get picked off. Rod does a great job of having players strip at the ball to create fumbles but ints will come when you can force QB into bad throws.
I read an analysis once, to the effect that most interceptions were caused as a result of pressure on quarterbacks.

The analysis went to the point of examining NFL QBs interception percentage while they were under pressure vs when they weren't. The majority of NFL QBs are so good, that if they aren't under pressure they simply don't throw INTs.

There are some exceptions, but if they throw INTs when they aren't under pressure, they don't tend to stay NFL QBs for long.

If you buy into that analysis, there is limited room for improvement with INTs by focusing on DBs--you have to improve by focusing on pass rushers.

I think if you give any NFL QB time to sit back there and look he will find an open man. DB can't be expected to cover 6 and 7 sec. any decent WR will get open.
